It all started with an invitation  that Petr Ptacek, head of Praga Kart, extended to his Team Manager: “C’mon, compete in this national race in the Czech Republic …”.

Said Team Manager is  Alessandro Manetti, winner of the World title in 1991 in Formula A and in 1994 in Formula Super A, and today head of the Praga Kart Racing Department. “Getting my hands back on the wheel of a kart after 3 years was fantastic: I didi t just for fun and to see how we’re coming along with vehicle development and, I must say, I found the product to be truly high-performance.

I provided feedback both for the chassis and for the engine,”  an emotional Manetti told us. The result? Not bad, it seems, considering  his  Praga Kart/Parilla with Le Cont tires (everyone else raced with Vega) scored the best qualifying time and also  placed 2nd in both heats before winning the final too.
But the renewed kart experience of the Italian driver, class of 1972, doesn’t stop here: it may not be a full-fledged “return,” but close to it. Manetti,  in fact, also plans to take part in 2-3 other races in in the Czech Republic, as well as in the WSK Final Cup at Castelletto di Branduzzo (Pavia, Italy) in KZ1 and in the Las Vegas Supernationals in a category yet to be defined. In short, a nice race schedule: “Well, actually yes,” he admits, “and, differently from what I expected, after this first race I didn’t physical problems or pain… I guess I’m still in shape.”
