Antonelli wins and increase championship in La Conca

Andrea Kimi Antonelli has taken the victory in the final of OKJ class at International Circuit La Conca in Muro Leccese. The Italian dominated the race despite the impressive comeback from Thomas Ten Brinke, Nikita Bedrin completes the podium.

The day started with a clear victory by Arvid Lindblad (Exprit/TM Racing/Vega) in prefinal A. The Briton dominated from Marcus Amand (KR/Iame/Vega) and Brando Badoer (Parolin/TM Racing/ Vega).

In the other prefinal, Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart/Vortex/Vega) beat Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR/Iame/Vega) after a very intense wheel-to-wheel battle.

In Final B, Karol Pasiwicz (Luxor/LKE/Vega) took the victory from Andrey Zhivnov (Kosmic/Vortex/Vega) who dominated the whole race. Despite that the Russian was disqualified because he was “ignoring Code of Driving Conduct in several times”. The podium was completed by Jonathon Weywadt (Exprit/TM Racing/Vega) and Marcel Kuc (Parolin/TM Racing/Vega).

In the final, a big crash at turn one meant the end of the race for Conrad Laursen (FA Kart/Vortex/Vega), Alfio Spina (KR/Iame/Vega) and Tymoteusz Kucharzyck (Parolin/TM Racing/Vega).

Meanwhile, pole sitter Arvid Lindblad from Forza Racing took the lead in front of Marcus Amand (KR/Iame/Vega) who overtook the British in the second lap of the race.

They both started to battle together and this helped Rosberg Racing Academy driver, Andrea Kimi Antonelli to take the lead of the race on lap 6. The Italian then did not have a rival in front to easily win the race.

The fight for second place was more disputed. Thomas Ten Brinke who started in 23rd place made an impressive start from 23rd to 10th and then he comeback to second with 5 laps remaining to keep his title chances open. Nikita Bedrin completed the podium after fighting for top places during the whole race.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli has now increased the lead in the championship standings from 4 points to 61 points from Thomas Ten Brinke who continues in second place with the same points as Nikita Bedrin. Arvid Lindblad after a great weekend joins the title battle despite have 85 points less than Antonelli.

The next and final round of WSK Super Master Series will take place at the International Circuit of Napoli in Sarno, Italy during the 21st to the 24th of March.
