The 2021 race season officially kicked off this past weekend at the opening round of the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Winter Series. With several BirelART North America drivers beginning their season in the Sunshine state, the Red Army would leave the event weekend with pole positions and podium results showing strong performances in a variety of different IAME powered classes.

Leading the way on the results sheet was Pro Shifter driver Davide Greco. The Canadian gearbox standout turned his third-place qualifying effort on Saturday into a podium result, finishing second in the main event before returning Sunday to add his second podium finish in as many days.

In the non-gearbox classes, BirelART North America claimed countless top-five results at the hands of their dealer network drivers. X30 Masters competitor and RYSA Racing driver Dan Breintenstein finished fifth on Saturday before crossing the line sixth on Sunday while X30 Junior driver and BirelART North America newcomer Jack Jeffers added fifth and eighth place finishes. California and Nash Motorsportz competitor Jesus Vasquez Jr. finished eighth in the KA100 Junior class on Saturday but returned Sunday to scorch the morning qualifying session and earn the fastest lap of the session and accompanying pole position. Showing his pace was no fluke, Vasquez earned a top-five result in Sunday’s final. BirelART North America standout and newly announced USF2000 driver Thomas Nepveu competed in the X30 Senior class and earned a top-ten result during Saturday’s wheel-to-wheel competition.

“We had fast equipment and good pace all weekend long, but the on-track action did not always go in our favor,” explained BirelART North America’s Dominic Labrecque. “We will shift our focus to another event this coming weekend before we return to Homestead in February for rounds three and four of the SKUSA Winter Series.”

Making the short ninety-minute drive north, BirelART North America will compete in their second event of the 2021 season. Set with another fifteen-driver strong lineup, the team will be aiming for the top step of the podium during the first event weekend of the ROK Cup USA Florida Winter Tour. Taking place at the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach, Florida, BirelART North America will take on the barrier lined temporary circuit to kick off another series of competition.
