The CIK-FIA World KZ Championship starts in Wackersdorf (D). The pole sitter is Anthony Abbasse (F – Sodi-TM). Riccardo Longhi (I - BirelArt-TM) is the fastest in the International KZ2 Super Cup. On cikfiachampionship.com and cikfia.tv the live streaming of the Finals on Sunday 10th September.

New champions to be awarded in Wackersdorf.
This weekend, at the Prokart Raceland Circuit in Wackersdorf (Bavaria, Germany), the KZ World title is going to be awarded to a new CIK-FIA Champion. The KZ World title and the KZ2 International Super Cup is what drivers will battle for on Sunday, the final day of the event. These two competitions mark the beginning of the last stage of the CIK-FIA season. Qualifying started today on the 1,222 metres of the German track, set 100 km east of Nuremberg; Qualifying which established the starting order of tomorrow's Heats. There are 156 participants coming from 26 countries and 4 continents; these participants are driving for an overall number of 71 entrants. The current KZ World Champion and frontrunner of the event is Paolo De Conto (CRG-TM-Bridgestone), who is also the new European Champion.

The two webchannels cikfiachampionship.com and cikfia.tv will stream live all the decisive stage of the competition. The streaming starts on Sunday 10th September at 10:30am with the last qualifying heats; then the Finals and the prize-giving ceremony in the afternoon. Abbasse ahead in the KZ World Championship.
Anthony Abbasse (Sodi-TM-Bridgestone, in the photo on top) has already laid his cards on the table in the KZ World Champ: the Frenchman, with his 46”855, is the best in Qualifying. The Dutch Marijn Kremers (BirelArt-TM, above) is second – 65 milliseconds slower – and the Italian Fabian Federer (CRG-TM) third – with a gap of 87 milliseconds. Abbasse is trying to get the payback after the second place scored in the World Championship last year, behind Paolo De Conto. The latter did not start well here in Wackersdorf and only managed to place 14th. Great performance, on the other hand, for the English Jordon Lennox-Lamb (Tony Kart-Vortex), fourth ahead of the Finnish Simo Puhakka (Kosmic-Vortex) and the French Jeremy Iglesias (Formula K-TM). 13th place for the Italian Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex), at his comeback to the races. Ronnie Quintarelli (BirelArt-TM), champion of the Japanese Super G, placed 27: the driver from Verona is exploring karting again after his experience in Formula C in 1999, when he won the European Championship.

Good start for Longhi in KZ2.
The top drivers of the International KZ2 Super Cup Qualifying are trying to improve the results achieved in the recent CIK-FIA European Championship. The Italian Riccardo Longhi (BirelArt-TM-Bridgestone, in the photo above), for example, set the best time with 46”998: the 13th place of the European Championship has been already forgotten. The German Daniel Stell (Mach 1-TM) is behind him for only 3 hundredths of a second. The Israeli Ariel Levi (Sodi-TM), third with a gap of 87 milliseconds from Longhi, is one of the underdogs of the KZ2 Super Cup. The same can be said about Benjamin Persson (CRG-TM) and the Italian Simone Cunati (Top Kart-Parilla), in 4th and 5th position respectively with a gap of more than a tenth of a second. Among the top drivers of the European Championship the best performance was achieved by the Italian Francesco Celenta (Praga-TM), 6th, while Alex Irlando (Sodi-TM) was a bit unlucky: the Italian is 7th after a three-place penalty because his kart was above the admitted noise level. Irlando, however, redeemed himself immediately and won the first Heat, while Persson won the second one.
