CIK FIA WORLD KZ CHAMPIONSHIP: SATURDAY OCTOBER 11 REVIEW
TKART Staff
10 October 2014

HOT NEWS - TKART - SARNO (ITALY) Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart/Vortex) makes it a double-hit on the Napoli International Circuit. The two-time world champion takes the two heat wins he needs to aim for tomorrow’s “lottery”. In heat 1 he had it easy, smoking his pole-sitting teammate Flavio Camponeschi with a quick dash at the go, while in heat 2 he had a tougher time and finally found his way towards the end. The result, in either case, was the same: victory.

Speaking of Camponeschi, the Italian is 3rd going into the prefinal, thanks to the 2nd place he secured also in the last of his heat races, where initially fell behind Jorrit Pex (CRG/TM) and Rick Dreezen (Zanardi/Parilla) and eventually, after the two exchanged position, got ahead of both.
On his hand, KZ European Champion Dreezen is proving to have good chances for the World title too this weekend, securing a P2 start for the prefinal with a victory in the second of his heat sessions. Behind him in row 2 for the prefinal, next to Camponeschi, there is Jorrit Pex, again the best of the CRG drivers like yesterday. Douglas Lunberg (Intrepid/TK) is fifth, after surprising battles against more experienced KZ driver, proving to be a real tough bone. He just has to make sure not to exaggerate: a simple contact could be enough to say goodbye to his ambitions.
Mirko Torsellini (Birel/TM) is 6th, after a brilliant day racing with both his head and his right foot at his first international event with the Lissone factory. After yesterday’s 11th fastest lap, Kristijan Habulin (TBKart/Modena Engines) reconfirms he belongs in the top end of the standings even after the heats.

Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM) is 8th, racing faster (at least based on lap times) than he did yesterday. Keeping on the topic of French drivers, Jeremy Iglesias (Lenzokart/LKE) is 9th going into the prefinal, a great climb from 23rd, where he closed yesterday.
The Praga Kart duo of Patrik Hajek and Jonathan Thonon (Praga/Parilla) follows and will have to step it up a notch to think about aiming for the title. Arnaud Kozlinski (Intrepid/TM), Bas Lammers (Formula K/Parilla), Ben Hanley (ART GP/TM) and Paolo De Conto (Birel/TM) will have to work even harder to rise from their respective positions: 14th, 16th, 21st and 22nd. They all have what it takes to lay claim to the title in terms of pure speed, but they pay for contacts, withdrawals, and brake-downs in at least one of their respective heats.

The next event up on track is the second chance heat, set for 10:15 am tomorrow  morning, followed by the prefinal (12:55 pm). The final race that will assign the crown to the world champion is set for 3:50 pm.
