Date shift on 2019 Calendar for the Racing weekend in Imola
TKART Staff
30 November 2018

Rome, Friday 30 November 2018 – All preparations and fine tunings of the new Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA are being quickly defined. Latest update refers to the shift of the racing weekend in Imola from the 9° of June to the 1° of September. 2019 calendar is extremely exciting and professional, with as many as 5 out of 8 appointments being held on F1 circuits, where the talents of the Formula Regional will be able to compete in a championship, certified by FIA, that will take place in Italy, France, Hungary, Austria and Spain. To optimize resources in terms of tools and time for teams also involved in the Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth, 6 racing weekends will be have the same calendar for both championships.

The 2019 championship will start the 13 and 14 of April in the F1 circuit of Paul Ricard, at Le Castellet, France, to then proceed in Italy, Vallelunga, the 4-5 of May. The third appointment will take place on the Hungarian F1 circuit of the Hungaroring on the 6-7 of July, while the following weekend the Formula Regional will move to Austria, again on a F1 circuit, the Red Bull Ring. The fifth appointment will be then disputed in Imola on the weekend of the 1° of September, followed, on the 21-22 of the same month by the Spanish appointment in Montmelò, on F1 Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The last two appointments of the championship will move back to Italy, on the F1 circuit of Monza the 5-6 of October, and on Mugello circuit the 19-20 of October.

The Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA is an additional and strong asset for the FIA concept of “The road to F1” that, after karting, is made of championships, starting from F4, that permit a fast, complete and structured approach of the drivers to F1. Along such “road”, Formula Regional represents the perfect step forward after F4 for those drivers who, starting from 16 years of age and with FIA B or C licence, will continue their learning course and the tuning of their talent. In such sense, the Formula Regional European Championship will permit to conquer between 20 to 25 points valid for the FIA Super License. The 8 appointments of the 2019 calendar will take place with a format organized with two 40’ sessions of free practice on Friday, two qualifying sessions of 15’ on Saturday, and three 30’ plus one lap races that will be held one on Saturday and two on Sunday.
