OK: Coluccio takes last minute pole position

The first qualifying practice series was very dramatic for OK class. The rain suddenly fell when the mechanics were getting their karts into the pre-grid. The marshals did not allowed to change the kart to the drivers who went to the pre-grid with the dry tyres.

As a result, Matheus Morgatto (Tony Kart/Vortex/LeCont), Li Migyang (Tony Kart/Vortex/LeCont) and Sebastian Montoya (Tony Kart/Vortex/LeCont) together with Lars Van Vark (KR/Iame/LeCont), Niels Koolen (KR/Parilla/LeCont) and Matias Salonen (KR/Iame/LeCont) were obligated to go out with slick tyres.

All of them finished in the back of the group, but drama did not stop here. Another three drivers were involved in a similar situation. Kas Haverkort (CRG/TM Racing/LeCont), Thomas Nepveu (BirelArt/TM Racing/LeCont) and Sutumno Thanapongpan (BirelArt/TM Racing/LeCont) had a similar situation at the pre-grid. They were with slick tyres and they decided to also put the chassis with the wet tyres on the pre-grid. The three drivers have been disqualified from qualifying.

Therefore, it was Alessandro Irlando (Birel Art/TM Racing/LeCont) who finally took the first place in Series one.

But this was not over, again more drama in the second group in which everyone went out with slick tyres. Spanish driver Ayrton Fontecha (CRG/Iame/LeCont) quickly was on top taking the provisional first place in this second group by almost 4 seconds. But the CRG official driver set the lap-time when he cut a corner, so as a result he dropped to P18 in the group, letting Morgan Porter (KR/Iame/LeCont) to take first place in the group.

Finally, in the last group, Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG/Iame/LeCont) and CRG teammate Gabriel Bortoleto (CRG/Iame/LeCont) were dominating the session with the Spanish driver up in front. But in the very last moment, Luigi Coluccio (Birel ART/TM Racing/LeCont) improved his lap-time to set the pole position in OK class.

OKJ: Conrad Laursen on pole after changing weather and penalties

The first series of qualifying practice started on dry conditions with not much drama than the following groups. The Estonian Ken Oskar Algre (Tony Kart / Vortex/Vega) showed a dominant performance taking the fastest lap-time by 6 tenths over Danish Conrad Laursen (FA Kart/Vortex/Vega).

But a post-qualifying investigation delated the quickest lap-time of Algre due to not respect of track limit. Therefore, it was Conrad Laursen who finished in the top place of Series 1.

But the drama appeared in the second group. The track dried out enough for slicks tyres, but suddenly the rain made his appearance on track. So many mechanics whose driver was on slick tyres asked to change the kart, situation that finally happened so all the drivers went out with the same conditions, all them with wet tyres.

It was the unique Irish driver in the field, Alexander Dunne (Tony Kart/Vortex/Vega) who was dominating the whole group but the Tony Kart official driver lost P1 in the very last moment when Cetilar Racing driver, Alfio Spina (KR/Iame/Vega) set the quickest lap-time of the group.

In the last qualifying group it was Nikita Bedrin (Tony Kart/Vortex/Vega) who in a similar conditions like group 2, took the pole position ahead of Marcus Amand (Kosmic/Iame/Vega) who recently changed Kart Republic for VDK, and Daniel Briz (FA Kart/Iame/Vega).

So, with these results at the end it is Conrad Laursen from Ricky Flynn Motorsport who took the pole position in OKJ.

Tomorrow the always unexpected weather of Genk (Belgium) will say the last word and for sure affect a lot, the qualifying heats.
