Rok Cup Italia, positive debut in Lonato
GM
Giovanni Mele
07 July 2020

In Lonato the first race of the Rok Cup Italy 2020 passed the exam of the track. In addition to the great expectation generated by the anti-COVID ministerial indications, there was a great desire to get you back on track and the Rokkers have shown it by presenting themselves in many. The races were spectacular and the new format with race-1 and grid race-2 (of the first eight positions of G-1) reversed, met with the approval of the paddock.

Only the Expert Donadei and D’Abramo in the Super Rok managed to win in both races. In the other categories the protagonists were, Gaglianò (Senior Rok), Abbate (Junior Rok), Hold (Shifter Rok) and Prescianotto (Mini Rok), winners of the respective races-1.
In race-2 the inverted grids launched some Rokkers at the top who during the race-1 had encountered some problems, such as Vita, first in the Shifter, Dragan (Mini Rok), Ianniello (Junior Rok) and the formidable Lady Tanja Muller ( Senior Rok).

In all categories, the rule of reversing the top eight positions at the start of Race-2 was synonymous with entertainment and fun, with many overtaking and no excess.
The access to race-1 was preceded by a heat that helped to outline the values on the field and allowed everyone to better get back to the feeling with the mechanisms of the race.

SENIOR ROK. IN GAGLINO ’RACE-1. RACE-2 SPRINT AT LADY MULLER
Gaglianò is perfect in qualifying and takes the first points of the season with a nice pole, preceding lady Muller. In the heats the Ligurian is impregnable, just as he is perfect also in race-1, where he leads from the first to the last lap.
Behind Gaglianò close Locatelli and Moncini who undermine Tanja Muller from the podium.
In race-2 Demartis is the protagonist, managing to take the lead of the group in the early stages. Behind the leader is the Muller and Moncini who make their way and manage to fall on the leader on the last lap. The tussle resolves in favor of Muller who slips the leader and resists the attack by Moncini. Demartis reacts with a shot of pride and takes pride of place with an overtaking at the last corner on Moncini.
Gaglianò closes fourth and takes other points for the championship, preceding Locatelli and Bernardi, author of a super comeback from the back of the grid.

JUNIOR ROK. ABBATE AND IANIELLO SHARE THE LOOT
In the cadet category of the Rok there is an interesting clash between the "old" and the newcomers from the Mini Rok. It is just a debutant in the Junior Rok, Ianniello, to take the first pole of the season, in front of Abbate.
In the heats Abbate and Lupifieri conquer the front row and race all-1 in this order, leaving behind, to fight for the podium, Ianniello, Donno and Marconato.
Race-2 sees Abbate recover but nothing can against Ianniello who makes a perfect race, he takes the lead of the race from the very first few races and goes to win, preceding the excellent ones, Babaiona and Simonini.
Donno manages to finish fourth after having fought the whole race with Abbate, Ladina, Bedetti and Scagnetti. All looking for a significant result.

EXPERT ROK. DONADEI DOUBLES BUT FAIR PLAY WINS
Donadei leaves no room for anyone and from pole wins both races.
The key episode occurred in race-1 when Bertellini and Tronconi, fighting for second place, touched each other, with the consequent roll-over of Lazio Bertellini.
In the following session, Tronconi stopped near the accident site to make sure that Bertellini, already standing, is in good shape. An example by these talented Rokkers who speaks volumes about the climate of respect that reigns among these drivers.
On the podium of race-1, alongside Donadei, Silvestrini and the former Rok Italia 2018 champion, Todeschini, rise.
In race-2, as mentioned, Donadei takes back the victory, ahead of Tronconi and Todeschini.

ROK SHIFTER. HOLD DOMINATES RACE-1. VITA MAKES UP FOR IT IN RACE-2
The Austrian Hold is uncontainable in race-1, from the second row he quickly takes the lead and wins in front of the 2018 Superfinal champion, Zemin and in Bizzozero.
Race-2 is a solo of Vita that starts off very strong and sows the group making up for the bad luck that slowed him in the heats and in race-1.
The pursuers remain involved in a lively battle that rewards Foresto with second place, ahead of Bensi. In reality, under the checkered flag, behind life, Bizzozero and Hold come, but the misplaced muzzles make these two Rokkers slip off the podium of the second race.

SUPER ROK. D'ABRAMO MAKES A DOUBLE
The Super proposes the duels that have enhanced the show in past editions. They are, first of all, the last two Superfinal champions, Cicognini and D’Abramo, to confront each other since qualifying and in the heats.
Cicognini takes over the race starting from pole position, with D’Abramo running as the only one able to keep up.
In race-1 D’Abramo scored the first blow of the season and went on to win by preceding lady Gaia Cardinali and Cicognini, slowed by a problem (detached bumper).
In race-2 there is an initial blaze of Galbiati, who leads for half the race, except to succumb to the attacks of D’Abramo, Cicognini and Martinello.
Galbiati manages to keep the Swiss Michael Muller behind him, returning to the "direct grip" of the Rok DVS, after an excellent experience in the Rok SHifter.

MINI ROK. PRESCIANOTTO AGAINST DRAGAN
Prescianotto and Dragan share the scene since qualifying. Dragan takes pole with a 031 thousandth advantage over Prescianotto.
Prescianotto goes back both in the heats and in race-1, going to win slightly over Dragan, Parmeggiani and Pacini.
In race-2 Parmeggiani leads a good part of the race and gives the victory only in the final to Dragan. Prescianotto completes the excellent start of the season by climbing on the podium after having got the better of Lady Kiana Naude, on the former Rookie 2019, Berni and Mizzoni.
