The opener of WSK Euro Series had a spectacular start in Sarno as 180 drivers made it onto the International Circuit Napoli to contest categories KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI, ready to claim the first win of the Euro Series that will offer a chance to bounce back after the results obtained in Adria at the end of the WSK Super Master Series.

Qualifying practice on Friday and the first heats of the intense weekend in Sarno provided the first list of candidates to the win, but there is a long way still to go before the closing stages on Sunday, July 12th when all the racing action will be covered by the Live Streaming feed available from www.wskarting.it.

VIGANO’ TO THE FORE IN KZ2. Matteo Viganò, on BirelArt by F1 driver Charles Leclerc for team Lennox came to the fore in the first qualifying heat in KZ2, as he won from the two BirelArt drivers Riccardo Longhi and Giuseppe Palomba. The fourth place was taken by the winner of the recent WSK Super Master Series: the Finn Simo Puhakka (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega), who led Viganò’s teammate from Sweden Viktor Gustafsson and the poleman Adrien Renaudin (Sodikart/Sodikart-TM Racing-Vega), as the latter did not get a great getaway.

THE YOUNG BADOER SUCCESSFUL IN OKJ. In OK-Junior, Brando Badoer (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-Vega) has been among the quickest once again. The Italian went fastest in the first session of qualifying and then won the first heat on Friday. The other heat winners were his teammates Alfio Andrea Spina and Ugo Ugochukwu and the British driver Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport/Kosmic-Vortex-Vega). The winner of WSK Super Master Series Arvid Lindblad (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-Vega) secured two placings instead.

A LOT OF PROTAGONISTS IN OK. In OK the Italian Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-LeCont) came to the fore posting the quickest time of the second session but in the heat he was third behind the British driver Joe Turney (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex-LeCont) and the Finn Juho Michael Valtanen (Pantano Team/KR-Iame-Le Cont). Among the front runners, Taylor Barnard (Rosberg Racing Academy/KR-Iame-LeCont) won one heat, as did the fastest man of Qualifying Session 1 Oliver Gray (Leclerc By Lennox Racing/Birel Art-TM Racing-Le Cont). Enzo Trulli (KR Motorsport/KR-Iame-LeCont) also put in a good result in one heat and claimed third.  Valtanen won the closing heat leading Barnard and Luigi Coluccio (Kosmic Racing Dep/Kosmic-Vortex-LeCont).

ONE-TWO FOR NAKAMURA IN MINI. The result of MINI is quite open, as usual. The Japanese Kaen Nakamura Berta (Team Driver Racing Kart/KR-Iame-Vega) secured two wins in the four heats, the other two went to the Pole Jan Przyrowsky (AC Racing/Parolin-TM Racing-Vega) and to René Lammers (Baby Race/Parolin-TM Racing-Vega). The Russian Dmitry Matveev (Energy Corse/Energy-TM Racing-Vega) – the winner of WSK Super Master Series – will be forced to a recovery weekend due to some problems he experienced in qualifying.
