PRESS RELEASE - TKART - Michael and Nicholas d’Orlando are gearing up for racing actionat this weekend’s Rotax Summer Shootout at the .7-mile 16 turns track at Carolina Motorsports park in Kershaw, SC. Dubbed the ‘Unofficial Tune-  up’ for the Cold Stone US Rotax Grand Nationals, teams and drivers will have the opportunity to test on the same track layout that they will run three short weeks later in the Grand National event. With competitors expected from across the United States, Jamaica and the Caribbean, the Rotax Summer Shootout will be an official United States Rotax MAX Challenge event and a double race weekend .

Michael and Nicholas are no strangers to Carolina Motorsports Park. They raced here back in 2012 in the World Karting Association (WKA) with Michael driving in the Cadet Junior Sportsman and Yamaha Junior Sportsman classes. Nicholas ran in the Yamaha Junior Sportsman Rookie category.  Both earned their first career WKA podiums at Carolina Motorsports Park.

Coming off two recent podium finishes, at the US Open event in Grand Junction, CO and the USPKS event in Shawano, WI, Nicholas will look to keep the momentum going heading into this weekend’s race.

“I am looking forward to this weekend’s race in Kershaw,” said Nicholas. “I had a strong kart in Grand Junction, CO finishing second and I look for us to have a strong kart to win here at Kershaw. I just want to keep doing what we are doing running up front and to have the opportunity to win.”

With a third place finish in both Grand Junction and Shawano, and a few weeks of off-track training, Michael is looking to bring home another strong finish at Kershaw, SC.

“It is good to be back racing again,” said Michael. “To come to a track I have raced at is always nice especially one I have had success at. I’m looking forward to building on the continued success we have had. I am feeling more and more confident in the Junior class. My goal has been to finish in the top-three in Junior and we have been doing that.  I feel we are getting closer to my first win in Junior. I am going to do all I can to get that first win.”.
