INTRO
The term "seize" is always used in jargon. In practical terms, this means that the piston gets stuck in the cylinder and that, consequently, the engine stops. In relation to motoring, it is one of the most common setbacks for karts, and when it happens ... it is never a good thing. This is because the seizure blocks the wheels and can lead to risks on the track, and the engine can be seriously damaged. There is no fixed rule to make sure you have no seizure problems. The advice that we can give, in general, is to always keep several parameters under control that undoubtedly have a decisive role in the occurrence of this problem: mainly carburation and temperature.

1 DIAPHRAGM CARBURETTOR
Diaphragm carburettors allow the carburation to be adjusted by turning two screws that reduce or increase fuel flow inside the carburettor. The management of the carburettor by the driver is often the main cause of a seizure: many think they can lower lap time by making the carburetion more lean, which, instead, much more easily ends up resulting in a breakage. When trying to obtain the correct set-up it is necessary to start with a slightly richer carburetion than the one recommended by the manufacturers, and from then make it more lean by five minutes at most (the jargon requires you to make the adjustment via the wheel just like on a clock face) during a session, without wishing to overdo things or going too far.
