The kart braking system is the accessory that most of all contributes to safety on the track and is also the most complex of those mounted on the chassis. In particular, the caliper and the brake disc are the most stressed elements that require a higher level of attention. Here is a small kit that all kart drivers (even the most inexperienced of beginners) must always have with them not only when they are racing, but also simply during training sessions.

BRAKE DISC PROTECTION

The most used material to make kart brake discs is cast iron, as explained in detail in the article "The secrets of the brake disc". To the excellent qualities of hardness, a positive factor when braking, the cast iron alternates with a low resistance in case of impact. In fact, all it takes is a brief exit from the track or driving over a curb to chip the disc. However, to protect the disc from shocks, just install the "disc protector slide", which is a bracket to be fastened to the chassis and a Teflon pad. The slide absorbs shocks while protecting the brake disc from breaking.
