It often happens that you have to replace the spark plug, because it is worn out, wet, or because you want to change the thermal degree. There are many models on the market, with the most diverse prices, from 5 Euros up to 50 Euros. But what changes from one model to another? Is it better to invest more money on a top-of-the-range model or can you be satisfied with the more common spark plugs? To help you choose, in this "Must Have" article we have collected the 7 most popular spark plugs on the market, describing their most important technical characteristics.

NGK B 10 EG (NICKEL) SPARK PLUG

The Japanese NGK is a leading company at global level in the production of spark plugs, not only for the karting sector, but for the entire combustion engine industry. The NGK B 10 EG spark plug (where 10 represents the thermal degree) is one of the cheapest, despite having an excellent build quality. The letter “B” indicates the diameter of the thread (14 mm) and the type of hexagon (from 20.8 mm). The letter "E" is instead the length of the thread (18 mm) while "G" means that it is a spark plug designed for racing use. The centre electrode and ground electrode are both made of nickel. It is an entry level spark plug, for those who do not have specific needs in terms of durability and performance during a race. The thermal gradation of NGK racing spark plugs for karts starts from 8 for the hot spark plug and reaches 10 for the cold spark plug.
