The seat is an integral part of the chassis system because, once it is assembled, it affects its rigidity and, consequently, the set-up and reactions of the whole kart. You don’t believe it? Therefore, like the body, the seat is subjected to considerable stresses which, however, are discharged entirely on the fastening points, often causing them to break. However, by fitting safety washers (mandatory for races, but absolutely recommended even if you do not compete) between the seat and the chassis, you can extend their useful life-cycle since this allows you to distribute the tensions over a larger surface. In this way the seat is protected from the risk of breaking through, even in the event of collisions. This is also good news for the driver’s ribs.
