Marco Ardigò retires from racing

It is with a post on Facebook, very emotional and at the same time crystal clear as only he knows how to be, that Marco Ardigò announces that the KZ World Championship in Lonato will be his last world championship as a driver and that he will hang his helmet on at the end of the season.

From that moment, fans, enthusiasts, insiders and, above all, adversaries, will have to do without his class among the curbs.

It will certainly not be easy, in fact, to get used to a starting line-up without seeing his name appear next to the Tony Kart one. It will certainly not be easy to no have the opportunity to tell the feats of a pilot who, being a winner across two ages of karting, ended up becoming the face of the sport all over the world. Thanks to his charisma and thanks to his infinite palmares, accumulated during a 28-year long career.

And you really have to go back in time to find his first successes: from the 1998 Winter Cup in 100 Junior, a victory replicated the following year in the 100 ICA, to the stint in Birel ended in 2004, when he ties with the OTK group moving to Kosmic.

He will not wear those colors for long though, because his talent quickly takes him behind the wheel of a Tony Kart.

What followed, as they say, is history of karting, because, driving for the brand from Prevalle, Marco wins everything, in what has become a pilot-manufacturer relationship that has few equals in the world of motorsport and for which he will always be remembered: 5 European Championships (FA: 2005, 2006, KF1: 2007, 2008 and KZ in 2016) 3 World Championships (KF1: 2007, 2008 and KZ in 2014 with two World Cups in 2007 and 2008), an avalanche of successes in the WSK (the Final Cup of 2015, 2016, the Master Series 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 up to the most recent Euro Series this year) and three SKUSA SuperNationals titles: in 2007 in SuperPro and in 2010 and 2012 in KZ2.

A relationship, the one with Tony Kart, that is bound to continue, at least according to how much the interested party is letting go, being already engaged in support activities and coaching of the pilots of the lower categories.

As Marco himself writes, therefore: “My karting path does not end here. An equally stimulating project will begin shortly, and you will always see me busy on the competition fields, always tied to Tony Kart, always with the same hunger to face and win new challenges “.

The hope, on the part of all the fans, is that even this new challenge can be a success.

We are sure about that.
