1 INTRO
Fact: fitting tires to rims and pulling them off are two operations that all karters depise, regardless of skill level and degree of expertise. It’s understandable; but if you learn how to literally handle the matter and where to apply force, it gets a little easier. And you might even reach the point where you no longer produce those “appalling” expressions that characterize the face of anyone who insists on the tire without result, praying it’ll somehow pop off the rim. So, let’s take a look at how it’s supposed to be done, starting from removal of the lug nuts with the proper size Allen key.

2 A LITTLE HELP
There are specific instruments you can use to make tire unbeading a little easier.
The beadbraker (see image) is the most commonly used: you “cage” the wheel with it so that the debeading disc touches against the edge of the rim, then press down with force. You need to do this on both sides of the tire. If you do it right, the rim will “emerge” from the tire tread on bith the right and the left.
