TKART Staff
28 May 2015

PRESS RELEASE - TKART - After the 2nd round in Zuera (E) of the CIK-FIA European Championship KZ & KZ2 the leaders are  Flavio Camponeschi (I – Tony Kart-Vortex KZ) and Pedro Hiltbrand (E – CRG-Maxter KZ2), while Marta Garcia (E – Parolin-Fim) leads in the Academy Trophy.
Special report about the Spanish racing weekend on Motors TV, on schedule from 1st to 15th June.

Zuera makes way to Genk for the final rush.
The names of the winners of this European CIK-FIA Championship for KZ and KZ2 will be revealed only in the final round. Last Sunday’s event on the Spanish circuit of Zuera made the race for the title even more interesting: we need to wait until 12th July to know its final outcome, when the Belgian circuit of Genk will host the third and final round of the continental event. The side event of the Championship is the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy, the series reserved to junior drivers. Its first round went to the 14-year-old Spanish girl from Valencia Marta Garcia. Also the Academy is going to be an event to follow until its very end.

Camponeschi leads in KZ.
In Zuera, Flavio Camponeschi (Tony Kart-Vortex-Bridgestone) won as he did in the season-opener in Sarno. His main rival was his team-mate Marco Ardigò, who was simply unbeatable in the qualifying heats. There is a gap of only 11 points between the two Italian drivers, with Camponeschi leading with 67 and Ardigò second with 56. However,  the English Ben Hanley (Croc-TM-Bridgestone) is not far thanks to his consistency: he is third with 53 points, followed by other threatening drivers such as the Czech Patrik Hajek (Praga-Parilla), the English Jordon Lennox-Lamb (Birel Art-Parilla) and  the  French Arnaud Kozlinski (Sodi-TM).

Hiltbrand tries to pull away in KZ2.
The event in his country gave him a further reason to do his best: the Spanish  Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG-Maxter-LeCont) was excellent in the KZ2 Final and he even managed to win after the penalty given to  the  Italian Francesco Celenta (Parolin-TM) for a jump start. He scored a podium position in the season-opener of Sarno too and now the Spaniard leads the standings with 52 points. Behind him, three very dangerous – but not as consistent as Hiltbrand – drivers such as the Swedish Joel Johansson (Energy-TM-LeCont), the French Paolo Besancenez (Tony Kart-Vortex) and the Italian Luca Corberi (Tony Kart-Vortex), both with 35 points. After his previous success in Sarno, the Danish Andreas Fasberg (Tony Kart-Vortex) did not score any point and now he occupies the 5th position, just ahead of the Dutch Marijn Kremers (Birel Art-Parilla).

Marta Garcia starts well in the Academy.
Marta Garcia Lopez is the winner of the 1st round of the Academy Trophy. The young girl from Valencia leads with 31 points thanks to her first success achieved last Sunday ahead of the English Alfie Brown. The Brit was the leader after the heats and now there is only a point between the two. On the other hand, the gap with the Russian Zakar Slutskiy in third position is wider. Behind him, the Spanish Xavier Lloveras and Alejandro Lahoz and the South-African Stuart White (all on Parolin-Fim-Bridgestone). Next heated second round in Genk.
