HOT NEWS - TKART - IMOLA (ITALY) The Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth has reached the closing round at the Enzo & Dino Ferrari Raceway in Imola..

The pole position of the first qualifying group went to Brandon Maisano, the only Prema Power Team representative present in Imola. The Frenchman is comepting for the over 18  F4 Trophy, so Championship-wise the top spot on the virtual grid belongs to Andrea Russo (Antonelli Motorsport), who is followed by Mattia Drudi (F&M) and Joao Viera (Antonelli Motorsport).
Race 1 was packed with suprises and unexpected twists, starting with the accident that involved Antonelli Motorsport drivers  Andrea Russo and Joao Viera and Sennan Fielding (Euronova Racing by Fortec Italia Motorsport). The Englishman caused havoc in the lead pack by doing a one-eighty and the Antonelli Motorsport teammates damaged their cars in an attempt to avoid him. Vieira got a flat tire and was forced to retire from the race; Andrea Russo incurred damage to his wing, which eventually came off completely a few laps from the end and is then excluded precisely for having ignored commissioners’ black and orange signal to pull off track.
F4 Trophy competitors Brandon Maisano (Prema Power Team) and Sennan Fielding (Euronova Racing By Fortec Italia Motorsport) are the first two at the checkered, while Championshp-wise it is Andrea Fontana (Euronova by Fortec Italia Motorsport) who tops the podium, flanked by Matteo Desideri (Antonelli Motorsport), on the rise form tenth place, and Leonardo Pulcini (Dav Racing), also on the rebound from mid-field. Mattia Drudi (Adria Raceway by Malta) makes do with fourth. The Italian fought for the top spot in his “class” and ended up in a one-eighty while attempting an overtake, but eventually to grab important points that further consolidate his position as runner-up in the Championship title hunt.
In Race 2, which features the grid inversion for the top 10 finishers of Race, Ivan Matveev (Smp Racing), Robert Schwartzman (Cram Motorsport) and Lucas Mauron (Jenzer Motorsport) are the top 3 on grid.
The Russian does a good start from pole and keeps a good pace, until Sennan Fielding, more experienced, gets ahead. However, Matveev (Smp Racing) makes the most of Fielding’s slipstream and secures the top step of the podium, followed by Andrea Fontana (Antonelli Motorport), on the rise from P8, and Lucas Mauron (Jenzer Motorport), who closes in the same position he started from.
Robert Shwartzman (Cram Motorsport), instead, did his best to make up for bad luck. His car got “stuck” at the green, so he had to re-start from the bottom of the formation, but from here he drove with determination to place 11th in the race standings.
Luck is meaner with Mattia Drudi, who was rear-ended by Matteo Desideri in the first moments of the race, and was forced to retire along with his rival. What’s worse, with the retirement Mattia’s second position in the title hunt got weaker and allowed his rival Andrea Russo (Antonelli Motorsport) to narrow the gap, also thanks to his great climb on track from 19th to 7th.
Race 3, the last chance for points, is set for tomorrow at 1:00 pm. Mattia Drudi will be starting in pole, followed by Leonardo Pulcini (Dav Racing) and Ivan Matveev.
