Raffaele Marciello: an Italian back in Ferrari, starting from karts
TKART Staff
25 November 2014

HOT NEWS - TKART - Raffaele Marciello's debut with Ferrari marks the return of an Italian with the world's most famous "red head" after more than a year. The last Italian to take the wheel was Davide Rigon in Silverstone in 2013.

Raffaelle's first time on the made-in-Maranello open wheeler was on November 26 in the F.1 test session in Abu Dhabi, pwhere he set lap times almost as good as those of Max Verstappen who already races with Toro Rosso. Marciello and Verstappen, two karting drivers from yesterday who are now running side by side in Formula 1.

As we looked through the TKART archives we remembered about an old photo (the one you see on top of this news). It was March 8th of 2009, round 2 of the WSK International Series at the Napoli International Circuit. The podium of the KF3 (today's KFJ) was composed by a trio that nowadays sounds more impressive than back then. The lowest step went precisely to Raffaele Marciello, at the time with Intrepid. The second step belonged to Carlo Sainz (left) who is currently doing rounds with Toro Rosso open wheelers and according to rumors he might join F1 as one of the two official drivers of the Faenza-based team (the other one is Max Verstappen!). Instead, the winner was a name who has since well conquered his right to be in Formula 1, Daniel Kuvyat. The Russian driver in 2015 will race with Red Bull.

The photo once again reminds us that everything starts from karting and, in this case, ends in Formula 1!
