The All-Stars Race by Felipe Massa
TKART Staff
04 December 2011

As tradition has it, every December loads of drivers, from kart to Formula 1, from Nascar to Stock Cars, head to Brazil as guests of Felipe Massa, promoter and organizer of the Desafio das Estrelas…

The sixth edition of the “all-stars race” took place in Florianopolis last weekend. As mentioned, there were many famous faces from the world of motors, karters included: besides “man of the house” Massa, the top category of motorsports was represented by Alguersuari, Barrichello, Di Grassi, Liuzzi, Sutil and the former F1 star famous among TKart readers, Gianni Morbidelli. Keeping everyone in line was Jules Bianchi, the Frenchman with a past in Maranello Racing Kart who is Ferrari’s third driver: in fact, he won race 1 with authority smoking by over 7 seconds Alguersuari and Massa, authors of a fantastic duel on a wet track. Same story in race 2, with young Bianchi setting down the law and closing first, ahead of Alguersuari and, further back, Di Grassi and Massa. And yet, at the end of the race a cold shower awaited the Frenchman: in fact, after inspections,  he was disqualified for being below the minimum weight. Victory in both Race 2 and in the entire competition thus went to his Spanish rival Alguersuari who saw Massa and Di Grassi on the podium with him. Not much luck for Morbidelli, disqualified in race 1 and fourteenth in race 2.
"I feel sorry for Jules, but rules are for everybody. Anyway, the important thing is to be part of a big party like this. I love to come to Brasil and Florianópolis, and I look forward to being here again next year."
