The former Arborea kart track becomes the Is Arenas stadium by accident on the Seria A Live program on Mediaset Premium

The Arborea kart circuit, nearby Oristano, in Sardinia, abandoned several years ago, turned into the Quartu Sant’Elena Is Arenas stadium in just a few minutes. The few minutes are those of the video aired during the soccer commentary program “Serie A Live” on the Mediaset Premium sport channel, shortly before the  Cagliari-Milan match, to blow the whistle on the presumed lack of safety and deplorable upkeep of the Sardinian soccer structure.

Presumed, because the images shown, in fact, are not recent footage of the Is Arenas stadium, but rather of an old docu-service by the news show “Striscia la notizia” that documented the state of abandon of the Arborea circuit (90 km from Cagliari), once a local karting hot spot.

Yet, the images of the video that aired (here we show you some still shots) are rather clear: traffic lights, paved asphalt, and bends. The news is now going around the web amidst apologies by Mediaset, reply by the Mayor of Quartu and threats of legal action by the Cagliari soccer team. But in all this, what about the Arborea kart track? Let’s say that, gates shut, it’s once more enjoying its “5 minutes of fame” …
