JARNO TRULLI WAS SUCH A GREAT TALENT
There are teammates who, although in the same age bracket, have more experience and can teach you. In 1994, Jarno Trulli was my teammate when I joined Tony Kart. He was already established as a kart driver (despite Forè and Trulli being the same age – Ed.) and one of the men to beat in each race: it was fair enough because, quite honestly, Jarno was by far the greatest talent I have ever seen in karting.
In particular, I remember when we went to Japan towards the end of that season. Trulli hadn’t recorded any fast laps all week. However, before the start of the final he stated the time he was going to post: two or three tenths lower than his times over the previous days. Robazzi (Tony Kart’s “boss” – Ed.) had a bet with him that he wouldn’t. Trulli, though, did what he said he would do. I thought it was extraordinary.
