EKR was founded in late 2014 (www.ekr-kartracing.com), based on a project that has been in the works for years: that of creating a 100% Spanish kart company. Needless to say, a company with this ambition could not but ne headquartered in Madrid. The men in charge are Antonio Martinez and Antonio Martinez JR, two names that stand for a vast experience in competitive karting. EKR is about to inaugurate its racing career in the 2015 Spanish Karting Championship and the 2015 Spanish Cup. Plans for next year include the CIK-FIA European Champioships. Objective: the podium.
The new EKR chassis is engineered to step on track in every competitive category, from the KZ (KZ Thunder) and KF (KF Phoenix) to the DD2 (KF DD2 Phoenix) and the Cadet (Cadete Star), while also making room for amateur racers (with the Hobby model). Kart engineering and production (based on the same chassis for KF, DD2 and KZ) are supervised by José Luis Carballeira, while track development is in the hands of expert Spanish drivers Maximo Cortes and Antonio Martinez.
The chassis has been engineered to yield the optimal mix between corner-in speed, traction, and ease of set-up.
The frame has a classic design and is made by a combination of 30 and 32 mm tubes. All components, including brake assemblies, are EKR-made and called SYSLINE. For EKR, the "100% made in Spain" claim is a key strength of its products.
