1 INTRO
Although the days when the karting industry was still mainly an artisan sector are not that far away, in the present today, especially in the world’s leading manufacturers, design and drawing software, numerical control machines and real robots are increasingly present and fundamental in the production process of accessories and frames (even if, in relation to the same, we have seen that there are two schools thought about some articles in this TKart channel). With the help of IPK we followed the production of a hub intended for 4T or DD2 motorized chassis. But the process, except for specific requirements, is substantially the same for most accessories.

2 DESIGN
The first phase involves the design. This is a decisive step in the making of a component using CNC machines. This stage is performed by the technical office with the help of a 3D program, which is used to design the component to be produced in great detail. This stage also entails all the calculations required to define the size and thicknesses for the type of material used. The 3D design provides the drawings and sections that need to be printed for the apporpriate checks to be performed in the workshop.

3 FROM 3D TO CAM
When the 3D design is complete, the process progresses to the CAM program. The software allows to import the design and to insert the different types of processing.
In this case, we specify the milling and drilling using the tools required for hub.
Once the work is complete, a simulation is performed and the program performs the same operations as the CNC machine perfectly, thereby allowing the necessary inspections.
