The eternal dilemma: does it make sense to spend more?

A racing kart driver’s suit is an essential piece of gear: for safety reasons, it is strongly discouraged -and in some contexts even prohibited- to drive this type of kart without wearing one. While its use is often not explicitly required during free practice sessions, in races it is mandatory to use specific models with precise characteristics. For example, in competitions that adhere to FIA Karting regulations, it is mandatory to wear clothing that has obtained the relevant homologation (to understand what we’re talking about, read the articles in the collection “FIA Karting homologations: the complete guide to rules and safety”.

The OMP 2026 suit range is plotted on the graph based on performance level (X-axis) and price (Y-axis). The Summer-K model can—if desired—also be used with racing karts, but it is generally recommended for driving a rental kart, worn over regular “street” clothing. For this reason, this model will be “excluded” from the analysis in this article. Starting with the KS-4 model, however, we will focus on suits specifically designed for use with racing karts. It should be noted, however, that the KS-4 is the only model that does not have FIA 8877-2022 homologation.
