After more than 3 months of stop caused by Covid-19, the Briggs Kart Championship series, like the whole world of Karting, is also planning the restart of the 2020 season. In these hours the Federations and the Government are defining the safety protocols for the races (currently still banned), after reopening the tests for a few weeks. Consequently, all competitive championships are drawing up their calendars in the time span between July and November.
In this scenario, the Briggs Series will not be able to recover all 7 planned events (14 races), but the Championship will already resume in July and the final appointment in November will be a double Round, so as to reach 12 Finals. overall. Before the start of the Championship, however, on Saturday 27 June a day of collective tests was scheduled in Ala (Trento) with the track exclusively for the Briggs categories in order to develop all the necessary safety protocols with an adequate simulation. The Championship, however, will start right from Ala on Sunday 12 July with the 1st Round and then go to Cremona on Saturday 25 July before the August break. After the holidays we will return to the track for another 3 weekends: in Viverone on September 6th, again in Cremona on October 11th and finally in Pomposa for the grand finale on November 14th and 15th.
A total of 12 Finals will be played, all valid for the general classification. The race format will remain unchanged, with 4 free practice sessions for each appointment, the qualifications and the usual two Finals (Race 1 and Race 2); in Pomposa on the final weekend the program will be the same both on Saturday and Sunday.
The presence of the Rookie preparatory category (from 6 to 9 years with the same Kart of the Mini, but with limitation to the carburettor) is confirmed for the 2020 season alongside the confirmed Mini, Junior, Senior and Master. The Rookie will not be a competitive category with only race simulations. In order to support the drivers and teams in this restart phase, CRG has activated the formula for the purchase of karts with zero-rate financing and a kart rental offer for 1 to 3 races with promotional fees.
