Following the opening round held in Genk, the Shifter category drivers return to the track for the second and final round of the FIA Karting European Championship KZ-KZ2, taking place at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno (Italy). The Italian venue also hosts the second round of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy - Junior. A total of 147 drivers are entered across the three categories: 22 in KZ, 77 in KZ2 and 48 in Academy Junior.

As usual, Friday featured the qualifying sessions, followed by the opening qualifying heats, which will conclude on Saturday.

KZ: Denner sets the pace in qualifying

Tyres: LeCont

  • The fastest time in the KZ qualifying session is set by Emilien Denner (Formula K SRP Factory Team – IPK – TM Kart), who posts a lap of 55.844 seconds.
  • Matteo Spirgel (Sodikart – Sodi – TM Kart) takes second, ahead of Danilo Albanese (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME) in third.
  • Viktor Gustafsson (CRG Racing Team – CRG – TM Kart) finishes fourth, while Maksim Orlov (Sodikart – Sodi – TM Kart) is fifth.
  • Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart – TM Kart) records the sixth-fastest time, ahead of Daniel Vasile (Maranello Kart – Maranello – TM Kart) in seventh.
  • Completing the top 10 are Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin – TM Kart) in eighth, Giuseppe Palomba (Maranello Kart – Maranello – TM Kart) in ninth and Jean Nomblot (Sodikart – Sodi – TM Kart) in tenth.

KZ2: Schleimer opens qualifying with the fastest time

  • The fastest lap in the KZ2 qualifying session is set by Maximilian Schleimer (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart – TM Kart), with a time of 56.307 seconds.
  • Genis Civico Espona (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart – TM Kart) secures second place, followed by Matheus Morgatto (CPB Sport – Sodikart – TM Kart) in third.
  • Michael Ider (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – TM Kart) is fourth, while Kimi Tani (LA Motorsport – Parolin – TM Kart) rounds out the top five.
  • Dion Van Werven (CPB Sport – Sodikart – TM Kart) sets the sixth-fastest time, ahead of Noah Wolfe (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – IAME) in seventh.
  • Jens Treur (DJK Racing – KR – TM Kart), Marek Skrivan (CPB Sport – Sodikart – TM Kart) and Jean Luyet (CRG Racing Team – CRG – TM Kart) complete the top 10 in eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.

Academy Junior: Han claims pole position

  • In Academy Junior, pole position goes to John Han (Exprit – Vortex), who clocked a lap time of 59.870 seconds.
  • Aleksandar Praizovic (Exprit – Vortex) takes second, followed by Faris Mohamed Haroun (Exprit – Vortex) in third.
  • Max Sulin (Exprit – Vortex) finishes fourth, while Peerapongpan Sutumno (Exprit – Vortex) is fifth.
  • Roc Piñera Rusiñol (Exprit – Vortex) records the sixth-fastest time, ahead of Augusto Salamé (Exprit – Vortex) in seventh.
  • Joaquin Gorlero Pizarro (Exprit – Vortex), Maksymilian Piatek (Exprit – Vortex) and Zoltan Coigny (Exprit – Vortex) complete the top 10 in eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.
