FIA Karting European Championship rd 4, Zuera: OKJ Final - Freddie Slater makes no mistake: victory and title

Breathtaking performance for Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport - Kosmic - Vortex) in the last round of Zuera. The British driver is crowned European champion of the OKJ class with an impeccable race conduct, as opposed to his direct opponents who make mistakes at the most decisive moment.

In the first laps, Slater leads the race ahead of Tomass Stolcermanis (Energy Corse - Energy Corse - TM Racing), but lets himself be overtaken by the Latvian driver, Ean Eyckmans (Kosmic Racing Department - Kosmic - Vortex) and Alex Powell (KR Motorsport) - KR - IAME), his direct rival for the title. On the last lap, Slater launches a double attack on Powell and Eyckmans, while Stolcermanis tries to take advantage of it: the Latvian touches with Powell and both finish their race.

Slater gets the victory in front of a good Eyckmans, very fast in the final and in command in the second part of the race. Remarkable comeback, however, for Maksim Orlov (Parolin Motorsport - Parolin - TM Racing): from 17th position, the Russian driver grabs an unexpected podium.

He also knocked out Matheus Ferreira (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) after just 3 laps. The Brazilian driver, Slater's most dangerous rival for the title, loses several positions in the first few laps and is subsequently involved in an accident with other drivers. In the championship, Ferreira remains in second position, while Eyckmans - for the game of scraps - climbs to third position, ahead of Powell.

Formidable recovery also for James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), who slipped back in the standings due to a 10-second penalty in the last qualifying heat. The American driver grabs a fourth position, +11 compared to the starting grid.

Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin Motorsport - Parolin - TM Racing) hits a solid fifth position, ahead of compatriot Keanu Al Azhari (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), fifth. After the pole position in qualifying on Friday and a series of subdued heats, Kai Sorensen (Forza Racing - Exprit - TM Racing) ends his weekend in seventh position.

Akshay Bohra (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) climbs up from 20th position to eighth. Douwe Dedecker (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), ninth, and Edgar Anpilogov (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), tenth, completed the Top 10. Also worth noting is the 11th position of Oleksandr Bondarev, best climber of the final with 23 positions gained. Important comebacks also for Matteo De Palo (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), +21 positions and 12th, and Maxens Verbrugge (Ricky Flynn Motorsport - Kosmic - Vortex), +22 positions and 13th.

Unfortunately, Harley Keeble (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex) was unlucky. The British driver is the author of an exceptional comeback in the qualifying heats (+51 positions), but remains involved in the same accident as Ferreira when he was in the Top 10.
