FIA Karting World Championship, Portimao, OK Final: Callum Bradshaw's masterpiece
Max Bernardi

The Englishman is out of everyone’s league in the rain, even for his teammates Joseph Turney and Pedro Hiltbrand who complete a Tony Kart podium.

  • At the end of a simply perfect race, Callum Bradshaw (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex) wins the title of 2020 World Champion in the OK category. Exactly as it happened before the race was interrupted after just over a lap due to an accident, Bradshaw needs only a few corners to take the lead, which never gives up until the checkered flag. Noteworthy is also the lead on the pursuers, 8 seconds, with the Englishman also putting his name on the fastest lap of the race.

  • Behind him we find his countryman, and teammate, Joseph Turney (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), who rejoins the race thanks to the re-start, after going off track in the first start, recovers 6 positions and once again pulls off a solid performance. The Englishman took second place on lap 15, overtaking his teammate Pedro Hiltbrand (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), third on the finish line.

  • Morgan Porter (Argenti Motorsport - KR - IAME), excellent fourth, gets past none other than Taylor Barnard (Rosberg Racing Academy - KR - IAME). The Rosberg Racing Academy driver, once immediately overtaken by Bradshaw, immediately shows that he does not have the pace of the leaders in the wet and will reach the finish line with a gap of more than 18 seconds.

  • The now former World Champion Lorenzo Travisanutto (Parolin Racing Kart - Parolin - TM Racing) is sixth, ahead of Josep Maria Martì (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), who has completed one of his best performances this season, and Rasmus Joutsimies (CRG - CRG - IAME), who recovers 19 positions.

  • Matias Salonen (CV Performance Group - KR - IAME), ninth, precedes Ruben Moya Lopez (CRG - CRG - IAME), 10th, but started from 32nd place.

  • Out of the top 10 we find Juho Valtanen (Pantano Team - KR - IAME) followed by Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) and Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) who, despite the penalties, recover positions. after lingering in the early stages. Excellent comebacks also by Dilano Van'T Hoff (Forza Racing - Exprit - TM Racing), 15th with 13 recovered positions, James Wharton (Parolin Racing Kart - Parolin - TM Racing), 17th with 12 recovered positions, Enzo Trulli ( Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing), 18th with 17 recovered positions and Frans-Emil Saarijärvi (KOSKI Motorsport - KR -IAME), 19th with 15 recovered positions.

  • 3 excellent retirements: Nikita Bedrin (Ward Racing - Tony Kart - Vortex), Rafael Camara Forza Racing - Exprit - TM Racing) and Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME). The Italian was the victim of the accident that forced the race direction to put out the red flag. Unfortunately, he was taken to hospital for an suspected broken leg.

  •  Markus Kajak (Ward Racing - Tony Kart - Vortex) retires after stranding off the track when he was fighting for fourth place overall: the Estonian driver is really one step away from a historic result for him, being not much accustomed to international karting competitions.
