Rome, 29 June 2018. At the South Garda Karting for the fourth round of the ACI Karting Italian Championship, the 210 drivers present in this mid-season event expressed their full potential in the qualifying session on Friday after almost two days of free practice, but in some categories surprises were not really missed.

Above all in the three test sessions of the KZ2, which overall saw 60 drivers at the start, some outsiders have entered the top of the category thus gaining the best starting position in the heats on Saturday. In the first session Andrea Dalè (CRG-Tm), European Champion in 2014, has confirmed for the truth all his value by winning the first position in 45.810, which then proved to be the best time ever of KZ2. But it was surprisingly Simone Cunati, at the debut with Modena Kart on CRG-Tm, 247 thousandths of a second from Dalè. The third time went to Massimo Dante, with Maranello-Tm, at 0.302. In the second session the surprise was double, for the best time won by the Romanian Daniel Vasile on DR-Modena in 45.886, and also for the second best time went to Filippo Berto, on CRG-Tm, just 47 thousandths of a second. Only the third position went to the world champion Davide Forè (BirelArt-Tm), although close to the first two with a gap of just 0.064. In this session Giuseppe Palomba on Intrepid-Tm, second in the Championship, had to give up in the last laps due to a technical problem and finished sixth, behind also by Alessandro Buran (VRK-Tm) and Maximilian Paul (DR-Modena). In the third session of KZ2 to win the best performance was the Italian Champion 2016 Francesco Celenta (Prague-Tm) in 45.867, with the current capoclassifica Giacomo Pollini (Formula K-Tm) slightly late with the second half at 0.133. With the third time, Danilo Albanese (Tony Kart-Tm) joined 0.229. Natalia Balbo, who stopped the clock with an excellent fourth time at 0.242 from pole position, was arousing sensation.

In the three sessions of the 60 Mini, with 82 riders, Brando Badoer (Parolin-Tm), son of the former F1 driver Luca Badoer and author of the pole position in the first session in 53.418, was the highlight, therefore the English Coskun Irfan (Parolin-Tm) with the best time in the second session in 53,696, and the Belgian Ean Eyckmans (Parolin-Tm) with the best time in the third session and even better in the overall standings with 53,255.

In the OK-Junior right in the final stages the pole position was obtained by Tommaso Chiappini (Formula K-Tm) in 48.286, ahead of Nicolas Pino (Tony Kart-Iame) just 26 thousandths of a second and Sulemin Zanfari (Tony Kart-Vortex ) at 80 thousandths of a second.

In the Junior Rok, with 33 drivers, the pole position was Raffaele Gulizia (Tony Kart-Vortex) in 49.121, ahead of Matheus Morgatto (Parolin-Vortex) at 0.038 and Paolo Ferrari (Parolin-Vortex) at 0.061. In Senior Rok, with 19 drivers, the fastest was the Polish Kacper Szczurek (Kosmic-Vortex) in 48.176, ahead of Giuseppe Gaglianò (Energy-Vortex) at 0.101 and Pietro Delli Guanti (Exprit-Vortex) at 0.159.

In the Rotax Senior the pole position was won by Davide Vuano (Praga-Rotax) in 49.371, in the Rotax Junior by Elia Galvanin (Exprit-Rotax) in 50.207.
