The Desafio das Estrelas weekend raced last weekend: organized by Felipe Massa (8th at the end) at the kartodromo Beto Carrero World , in the state of Santa Caterina, the event put the golden seal on the winter holidays of many drivers, by now ready to get back to “normal” life.
Besides the “man of the house,” there were many other hot wheel VIP’s, including, for the first time, Fernando Alonso, who never stopped twitting photos and comments from the race day, confirming how much fun he was having despite the various issue with his accelerator that kept him from doing better than 21st and 18th. “It’s been a really pleasant weekend – the Spanish champion commented – and I hope that fans (there were about 13,000 people in the stands, ed.) had as much fun as I did. Do I plan on coming back next year? If Felipe calls me, sure!”.
Someone who already did his return to the “crime scene” this year to take care of unfinished business is Ferrari Driver Academy driver Jules Bianchi: in the previous edition, in fact, the French driver had crossed the finish line first, but was pushed back when judged to be underweight at the end of the event. This year, instead, there was nothing to come between him and victory, which he conquered with a first place in the first race and a fourth place in the second, placing him on top of the Brazilians Felipe Nasr, second, and Lucas Di Grassi.
After the event, Massa and Alonso returned to Italy for the annual gathering in Madonna di Campiglio that marked the twenty-second edition of “Wroom,” the Scuderia Ferrari presentational event, which also closed with a karting race on the frozen lake of the alpine town.
