October 5, 2018 - Attending the Superkarts! USA (SKUSA) Streets of Lancaster event this past weekend, Mad Croc Karting USA claimed a pair of podium results including one main event victory. Dubbed as the unofficial tune-up for the SKUSA SuperNationals next month, Mathias Coito scored the win in IAME Mini Swift while Billy Musgrave added a second place result in the X30 Senior division.
"It was a good weekend in some aspects, but a disappointing one in others," explained Todd Ulman. "Our partnership with Checkered Motorsports went off without a hitch and will be great for all drivers involved. Our Mini Swift and X30 programs excelled as the Mad Croc chassis was at the front of both fields and was able to challenge for the victory. On the other side of the coin, I was hoping for better results in the shifter kart ranks, but now know what we have to work on before the annual SuperNationals."
Leading the way with results for Mad Croc Karting USA was young Mathias Coito. Claiming a fifth place result in qualifying, the eventual race winner went on to have a disappointing heat one where he finished tenth. Rebounding in heat two with a fourth place on the charts, Coito put the Mad Croc brand on the podium later that day as he was awarded the IAME Mini Swift victory after finishing second on track.
Musgrave improved on his fifth place qualifying effort in X30 Senior to climb the running order before the final checkered flag had flown. Finishing second and third in the two heat races, the multi-talented driver was able to mount a charge for the win, but came up just short by securing a second place podium result. As he was gaining on the eventual race winner and about to overtake, a yellow flag was thrown and that prevented him from trying to pass the leader.
Ulman added, "The competition this weekend was tough across all classes and will resemble the talent at the SuperNationals next month. Congrats to Mathias and Billy on their performance, and thank you to Musgrave Racing Company for their continued support."
In the S1 category, three drivers piloted the Mad Croc chassis as AJ Myers made his chassis debut alongside Matias Podboj and Checkered Motorsports Andrew Bujdoso. Myers would lead the way for the team in qualifying claiming the second fastest lap of the session and outside front row starting position for heat one. Podboj and Bujdoso claimed top-15 results finishing seventh and 14th respectively.
In the heat races, Myers continued to lead the Mad Croc contingent with seventh and sixth place finishes before ending the day in fourth, unaware that he was running with a bent chassis for the majority of the official sessions. Podboj and Bujdoso had their runs in the top-ten throughout the heat races and secured seventh and sixth place results respectively in the S1 division.
