08 October 2021

The 2nd and final Round of the WSK Open Cup, which took place in Adria from 29 September to 3 October, has ended with a positive 2nd place for Jeremy Iglesias in the KZ category. Paavo Tonteri has also been under the spotlights in the class with the gearbox: after obtaining the 4th place in qualifying, he conquered the pole position for the Pre-final in the heats. The Finnish driver suffered a drop in performance during the Final, however finishing P9 in the top ten, behind his teammate Alex Irlando, P7 at the end of the race.

Less positive from the point of view of the result, but encouraging when it comes to his performances, Gerasim Skulanov’s race in OK Junior. The Russian driver made a mistake in qualifying, where he got stuck in traffic in the only lap of his group, but then in the heats he has always showed a race pace equivalent to the best. Unfortunately, however, in the Pre-final he was delayed by a contact and did not qualify for the Final.

The brawl was also decisive in the Mini class, where Ilie Tristan Crisan remained out of the Final due to a contact, despite being among the fastest on the track, while Luviwe Sambudla had an excellent Pre-final, but then he was also delayed by a race contact in the Final. Unfortunately Ksenia Phoenix had to forfeit in OK, due to physical problems.

Now the official CRG Team will focus on the double trip to Spain for the Champions of the Future race scheduled from 21 to 24 October and for the OK and OK Junior World Championship, which will take place on the Campillos track from 27 until 31 October.

Drivers’ post-race reactions:

Jeremy Iglesias (KZ): “We have confirmed ourselves as competitive, as in the European Championship and in the recent World Championship. We have had the opportunity to try some solutions in the race that we will be used on the 2022 models and all the data collected from this point of view are very consistent. The feedback on the TM engine was also very good and therefore the overall balance, which was very positive, has been made even more pleasant by the podium”.

Luviwe Sambudla (Mini): “I made some decisive mistakes, both in qualifying and in the heats and these affected our result this weekend. But our speed was good, even though I hadn't done many km on the Adria track yet and in the first few days I had a hard time finding the rhythm and right feeling with the track. In any case, the balance of this weekend is positive. Every day I learn a lot from the team's technicians and I hope to be able to reciprocate everyone's work with a great result on the track soon”.
