The first and highly anticipated international event for the two new categories, OK-N and OK-N Junior, will take place from October 4 to October 8, 2023, as support races to the FIA Karting World Championship at the Franciacorta Karting Track.
The highly anticipated international event "Road to the OKN World Cup," organized by ACI Sport in collaboration with the Franciacorta Karting Track for the two new categories, OK-N and OK-N Junior, is now ready to start.
The event is scheduled to take place from October 4 to October 8, 2023, as a support event, during the FIA Karting World Championship at Franciacorta.
For this important event, a paddock will be created entirely dedicated to the two new categories and it will form a real OKN village.
This significant initiative by FIA Karting and ACI Sport will serve as a true endorsement of ACI Sport's program for the two new categories, OK-N and OK-N Junior, which have already made a very successful debut in the ACI Karting Italian Championship and Italy’s Zone Cup. The Franciacorta event will have an important worldwide streaming television coverage.
Selection criteria for the participants to the OK-N and OK-N Junior event.
A maximum of 36 drivers per category will be allowed to participate to this international event, which will take place from October 4 to October 8, 2023.
For both categories, a selection criterion will be applied with the following access priorities:
- Maximum number of drivers: set at 36 for OK-N Junior and 36 for OK-N;
- Driver selection criteria: ACI Sport may identify all 36 drivers for OK-N Junior and a maximum of 26 drivers for OK-N according to the following criteria:
– For OK-N Junior: the top 12 drivers in the final standings of the ACI Karting Italian Championship, the top 2 drivers in the standings of each zone of Italy’s Zone Cup as of September 25, 2023, and top 6 drivers in the standings at the end of the first round of the WSK Euro Series (on September 3 at Franciacorta);
– For OK-N, the top 12 drivers in the final standings of the ACI Karting Italian Championship, the top driver in the standings of each zone of Italy’s Zone Cup as of September 25, 2023, and the top 5 drivers in the standings at the end of the first round of the WSK Euro Series (on September 3 at Franciacorta). The remaining 10 places for OK-N will be assigned by FIA Karting, which will redistribute them to the various National Sporting Authorities (ASN) that have already competed with OK-N karts or are planning to do so in 2024, sending the official link for the registration at the race.
- Date of Driver Identification: on Monday, September 25, ACI Sport, after careful evaluation of the aforementioned classifications, will identify the 36 OK-N Junior drivers and the 26 OK-N drivers based on the described criteria. The Organiser (Franciacorta Karting Track) will send them a link with the entry form to be filled out for race registration. In case a driver appears in more than one of the Championship/Series standings mentioned above, the spot will be assigned to the next driver in the standings.
- Race Registration Fee: €450 including VAT (includes Free Practice and waste disposal).
- Technical Regulations: nr.01 chassis, nr.01 engine and nr.6 Vega XH3 Option tires.
- Provisional Schedule: race format from Wednesday (collective tests) to Sunday, as part of a weekend entirely dedicated to the definitive affirmation of the two categories.
