TKART Staff
17 March 2023

The event organized by Parma Motorsport will take place in the weekend of March 19 at the South Garda Karting. Great participation in all categories. The race is valid for the IKR by FIA Karting.

All is set at the South Garda Karting for the 34th Andrea Margutti Trophy, a historic event organized by Parma Motorsport that, even in this edition, boasts an excellent participation of about 240 entered drivers from 36 countries in the MINI, OKJ, KZ2, X30 Junior and X30 Senior categories.

This is another great milestone for an event that aims to commemorate the young Andrea Margutti in a competition that has been held since 1990 by the Margutti family and all of Andrea's companions, including Jarno Trulli and Giancarlo Fisichella. Since then, many champions have taken part in the Trophy, starting with Giancarlo Fisichella, who won the 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1994 editions, as well as many other top drivers such as the 5-time Karting World Champion Danilo Rossi.

A lot of Champions that climbed the ladder up to Formula 1.
In addition to Jarno Trulli and Giancarlo Fisichella, many other big names who later went on to compete in Formula 1 have also participated in the Andrea Margutti Trophy, such as Jenson Button, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Fernando Alonso, Robert Kubica, Giorgio Pantano, Kimi Raikkonen, Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Nico Hulkenberg, Daniil Kvyat, Kevin Magnussen, Jules Bianchi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, George Russell, Charles Leclerc and Lance Stroll. The fast Sophie Kumpen, mother of Max Verstappen, is also on the Andrea Margutti Trophy's list of winners, having won the 1995 edition in the highest-performance category at the time, Formula A.

Great participation in all categories.
The 34th edition boasts an excellent participation in all categories. The MINI category stands out with almost 100 drivers divided into two age groups, from 8 to 10 years for the MINI Gr.3 Under 10 and the usual MINI Gr.3 from 10 to 12 years old. However, all categories have full grids, including OK Junior and the two X30 Junior and X30 Senior single-make categories, as well as the high-performance KZ2 category with about 50 drivers. In this category, the Croatian Kristijan Habulin stands out for his loyal participation in the Andrea Margutti Trophy since 2006. Among the 36 countries represented, the Czech Republic has the highest number of drivers (22) after Italy, while Team Driver ranks first among the teams with the most registered drivers with 17 drivers.

The 34th Andrea Margutti Trophy is part of the IKR by FIA Karting.
An added value of the 34th Andrea Margutti Trophy will be the inclusion of the race results in the "International Karting Ranking", the new computerized ranking system of FIA Karting for drivers participating in international karting events. The results produce an overall ranking according to a model similar to the ATP ranking in tennis, with the aim of promoting standardization of karting practice in competitions worldwide.

The program of the 34th Andrea Margutti Trophy:
Thursday, March 16: Free Practice.
Friday, March 17: Qualifying practice and Qualifying heats.
Saturday, March 18: Qualifying heats.
Sunday, March 19, Live Streaming: Prefinals from 14:00, Finals from 15:30, Prize Ceremony at 18:00.
