On the Val d'Argenton circuit, site of the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship OK-OKJ, the Tony Kart Racer 401 RR placed at the top of the rankings in the various stages of the race, throughout the entire weekend, and then closed with a fifth place finish among the “Seniors” with David Walther.

Tony Kart Racing Team's season continues in the FIA Karting European Championship 2024, reserved for OK and OKJ categories. Despite the variable weather throughout the race weekend at the Circuit du Val d'Argenton (France), our Tony Kart Racer 401 RR adapts well to all track conditions and, together with the VTS engine from Vortex, OTK Kart Group's “engine division,” occupies the top positions in “Senior.” The “Racer” chassis - fresh winner on the very same circuit of round 2 of the Champions of the Future championship - also takes part in the “Junior” class, powered by the Vortex VTJ.

In OK, David Walther always occupies a prominent position in the class throughout the French event. In fact, out of five elimination heats in the program, the Danish driver always seizes the Top 3 by also sealing a victory. Thanks to this series of excellent results, he earns second place in the overall ranking at the end of the day on Saturday, confirming the placement also on the starting grid of the final, after a second place in super heat B. Right in the final, Walther is from the very first moments involved in the battle of the leading group and, throughout the rest of the race, remains firmly at the top of the standings. At the end of the scheduled 24 laps, our bearer brings home a Top 5 finish, valuable for the championship. Sebastiano Pavan also proves to be as fast and competitive as teammate Walther. The Italian shines in the qualifying heats with five podiums in total and climbs to fifth place in the intermediate standings. Unfortunately, due to the initial tussle after the start, our driver cannot express his full potential in the final. Xavier Avramides shows off in the heats with two fifth places and two Top 10s, while in the last race of the weekend he climbs up the standings by 13 positions. Tiziano Monza recovers a total of 23 positions between time trials and elimination heats and, with another 13-place comeback in super heat A, gains access to the final. Despite top 10 finishes in the heats, Xiaoyu Sun and Blake Nash narrowly miss qualifying for Sunday afternoon's race. On his home circuit, Thomas Quincé hits an eighth-place finish in the qualifying heats, but two withdrawals hinder his path.

In OKJ, Scott Marsh takes advantage of the experience accumulated in this first part of the season to achieve four important comebacks in the qualifying heats and a fifth place as his best finish. The Briton then closes the second round of the championship in the Top 15 in the final, achieved by climbing 17 positions in the standings from the start. An accident at the first corner of the final, however, forced an innocent Ilie Tristan Crisan to retire, after grabbing three Top 10s in the qualifying heats and first place in Sunday morning's warm-up. Winner two weeks ago at the Champions of the Future Euro Series, Joel Pohjola opens the day on Friday with the best time in free practice, but a subsequent unlucky qualifying (due to variable track conditions caused by the sudden arrival of rain) complicates his path in the qualifying heat. Despite taking first place in Saturday morning's warm-up, the Finn has to give up competing for the top spot in the standings, aided by a retirement in the first heat. Augustus Toniolo is forced to forfeit because of an injury, suffered in an accident on Saturday, while Maria Germano Neto accumulates important kilometers in view of the upcoming commitments in the calendar.

From France, our Tony Kart Racing Team returns to Italy as it prepares for the second and final round of the WSK Open Series at the La Conca International Circuit in Muro Leccese (Italy), scheduled for May 8 - 11, with drivers in the MINI and KZ2 categories.
