Tony Kart leader of the “COTF” after Zuera
TKART Staff
25 April 2022

Thanks to another Top 5 result in Round 2 of Zuera, Joseph Turney jumps to the top of the OK category of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, ahead of his teammate Luigi Coluccio. In OKJ, another success for the Tony Kart-Vortex pairing.

The second round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series ends with the provisional leadership in the championship for the Tony Kart Racing Team. At the Circuito Internacional de Zuera, in Spain, our Tony Kart Racer 401 RR, paired with the DST engine by Vortex, reaches the foot of the podium in OK and gains the first two positions in the points ranking. Good results also in the OKJ category, powered by the DJT unit of the "engine division" of the OTK Kart Group.

In OK, Joseph Turney jumps well with the second-best time in his qualifying group and in the qualifying heats he is able to gain three victories, in addition to two second places. These results allow the champion of the WSK Super Master Series to start ahead of everyone in super heat 1 and our driver does not disappoint expectations, conquering another victory. In the final, the British driver starts perfectly from the pole position and, after a careful race aimed at not taking any risks in view of the championship, he finishes close to the podium, behind the Tony Kart-Vortex of Ean Eyckmans (EGP Racing Team), third: enough to jump provisionally at the top of the general ranking.
Excellent performance also for Luigi Coluccio, second, like Turney, in his group in the qualifying session. The Italian scores two victories and two second places in the qualifying heats, continuing on Sunday with a second place in the super heat 2. Thanks to the Top 10 obtained in the final, Coluccio is second in the points classification, behind his teammate Turney.
Together with the English and the Italian drivers, in the first ten positions of the final, we also find another of our bearers, the American James Egozi, author of a comeback of 9 positions compared to the starting grid. Great recoveries also for Tuukka Taponen and Keanu Al Azhari: the Finnish driver climbs up 13 positions, while the driver from the United Arab Emirates is the best climber of the final with 21 positions recovered. Juho Valtanen also attends the final, after a good rhythm throughout the weekend.
For just a single penalty point and an unfortunate stop during the qualifying heats Oscar Wurz cannot obtain the access to Sunday's final after the super heats. Liu Ruiqi and Kuba Rajski set interesting timings in view of the next round of the FIA Karting European Championship.

Speed and competitiveness have also been shown off from our drivers involved in OKJ, with the category final won by the Tony Kart-Vortex driven by Dmitry Matveev (Koski Motorsport). Jan Przyrowski is the best of our drivers and, after two podiums and a fast lap in the qualifying heats, he is the winner with full worth of the super heat 2. In the final, the Polish driver finds a fierce competition, but despite this he turns out to be among the best ten drivers of the race. Enzo Tarnvanichkul also takes part in the final, after a Top 5 finish in the super heat and a fast lap in the qualifying heat, together with Arthur Dorison.
Giacomo Pedrini, Alp Hasan Aksoy, Maria Germano Neto and Jimmy Helias grind kilometres on kilometres in view of the next appointments scheduled on the calendar.

Short break for the Tony Kart Racing Team. In two weeks (April 28th – May 1st) the second round of the FIA Karting European Championship is scheduled at the Circuito Internacional de Zuera (Spain), still for the OK and OKJ categories.
