On the occasion of the first round of the FIA Karting European Championship for OK-OKJ categories, held at the Kartódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal, our engines win in both categories. Triple win for the DST engine in the "Senior" class, while Dmitry Matveev is first in the "Junior" class with the DJT.
OK – One more top-level performance for our DST engine in the master class of the single-speed karts, already starting from the qualifying session: in fact, not less than eight drivers at the wheels of the Vortex powered chassis rank in the first ten positions of the combined ranking. The pace does not change in the qualifying heats, in fact: out of 15 scheduled competitions, 12 see the victory of our engine (exactly 80%), with 6 fastest laps, thus confirming the Vortex competitiveness. 15 drivers equipped with the DST unit enter the final, for a total of 43% of the starting grid.
Victory for Artem Severiukhin (Ward Racing) ahead of Joseph Turney (Tony Kart Racing Team), who also this time, as two weeks ago on the Portimao circuit, on the occasion of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, finishes the final on the podium and signs the second place ahead of Oscar Pedersen (Ward Racing), who completes the triple win signed by Vortex.
Three other DST engines appear in the Top 10 of Sunday's final: they are those of Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Ean Eyckmans (EGP Racing Team) and Juho Valtanen (Tony Kart Racing Team). On the starting grid we also find Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart Racing Team), James Egozi (Tony Kart Racing Team), David Walther (Koski Motorsport), Maxim Rehm (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Eemeli Koivisto (Koski Motorsport), Keanu Al Azhari (Tony Kart Racing Team), Dion Gowda (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Maksimilian Popov (Ward Racing).
OKJ - The symphony of the Vortex engines is also playing in the "Junior" category of the single-speed karts. Dmitry Matveev (Koski Motorsport) and Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart Racing Team) set the two best timings in their respective qualifying groups and the Finnish driver gains the pole position, ahead of the Polish driver. During the qualifying heats, the DJT unit conquers 6 victories and, at the end of the super heats, two drivers with our engines take the first three positions in the intermediate ranking. In total, 13 drivers qualify for the final, almost 40% of the starting grid.
Matveev is the main protagonist of the last race of the Portuguese weekend. From the pole position, the bearer of Koski Motorsport is perfect: as the traffic lights are off he immediately leads the race, keeping the lead for all the scheduled laps and crosses the finishing line first. Two other Vortex engines, those of Thomas Strauven (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) and Kirill Dzitiev (Ward Racing), finish in the first 6 positions of the ranking. Maciej Gladysz (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) finishes in the Top 10, preceding his teammate Salim Hanna (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) under the chequered flag. Also attending the final were Jan Przyrowski, Oleksandr Bondarev (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Enzo Tarnvanichkul (Tony Kart Racing Team), Alfie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport), Guillaume Bouzar (Koski Motorsport), Marcus Saeter (Ward Racing), Enea Frey (Ricky Flynn Motorsport) and Douwe Dedecker (Ricky Flynn Motorsport).
