At the second round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series at Val d'Argenton, the VTJ engine took victory in the OKJ category with Joel Pohjola (Tony Kart Racing Team).
OKJ - With a total of 95 entrants at the start of the weekend, the VTJ engine came out on top in the 'Junior' final. Joel Pohjola (Tony Kart Racing Team) emerged at the top during the qualifying heats, where he set two fastest laps and a peremptory victory in heats A-F, thanks to a 12-position comeback. Moreover, the Finn finished third in Sunday morning's Super Heat B and, compared to his qualifying result, climbed up the rankings by a good 28 positions.
In the final, Pohjola had a great sprint at the start and immediately gained four positions, while, in the following laps, he even reached first place. With a majestic performance and the best lap in his pocket, the Tony Kart Racing Team driver triumphs alone under the chequered flag, more than four seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Thanks to an excellent performance in the qualifying heats, Scott Marsh (Tony Kart Racing Team) was on the starting grid for the final, but an unfortunate accident at the first corner forced him to retire prematurely.
OK - There were 78 drivers in the "Senior" category, where the VTS engine comes to the party with David Walther (Tony Kart Racing Team), third fastest in the first free practice session and second in Saturday morning's warm-up, and Xavier Avramides (Tony Kart Racing Team), was third in Sunday's warm-up. It is precisely the Australian who is the first Vortex representative on the final grid, but he had little luck during the race. Tiziano Monza (Tony Kart Racing Team) and Xiaoyu Sun (Tony Kart Racing Team) also found pace in Sunday's race.
