At the end of 2023, RGMMC launched a new global concept enabling drivers to take part in karting events on a fair sporting basis and to make their mark as promising new talents. In 2024, the series will extend to six meetings: three in Europe and three in the Middle East. The Champions of the Future Academy Program will open on the Cremona International Circuit in Italy from March 27 to March 31 with three categories based on the "arrive and drive" system. Almost all the available places have been filled, promising a particularly exciting competition to watch and experience.
Three categories, 100 drivers
Mini from 9 to 12 years old, OK-N Junior from 12 to 14 years old and OK-N Senior from 14 to 18 years old are the three categories accepted in the Academy Program, with a maximum of 36 drivers in each group. The initiator and promoter of the concept, the RGMMC group was delighted to see so many drivers signing up to the formula as soon as it was presented at the end of 2023. In Cremona, OK-N Junior is sold out, while the other two categories, Mini and OK-N Senior, are also close to being full. No fewer than 33 nationalities will be represented.
Two podiums per meeting and per category for greater intensity
The competition will adopt a specific format with two separate races at each meeting. In addition to the numerous Free Practice sessions, the drivers will contest a Qualifying session, two Qualifying Heats and the Final, then this programme will be repeated the following day. Two podiums will be organised, doubling the chances of each driver of reaching the podium.
Arrive and drive
Famous karting factories such as Parolin and Kart Republic for the chassis, TM Kart and IAME for the engines, and Vega for the tyres will be responsible for supplying the equipment, which will be distributed by lottery. It will be up to the driver to make the difference. Fuel, a tent, a trolley and a workbench are all part of the logistics provided by RGMMC to make it easier for the competitors. The driver simply arrives at the circuit with his equipment, his mechanic and his tools.
A concept supported by renowned partners
From the first event in Abu Dhabi in 2023, the Mercedes F1 Junior Program has shown an interest in this new international series, while the F1 Academy will support three female drivers in each category.
Specialising in driver development, Formula Medicine will be present at the three European rounds to offer free training and education modules to all drivers wishing to take part.
Each event will be broadcast live via the global motorsport platform Motorsport TV. A 26-minute television programme featuring the best moments of the meeting will be widely broadcast. At Cremona, live timing will begin on Friday, March 29, and live streaming on Saturday, March 30.
DHL is the logistics partner of the Champions of the Future Academy Program, enabling young hopefuls to get noticed and prepare ideally for a future career in motor racing.
