On the occasion of the FIA Karting World Championship OK-OKJ in Franciacorta, our Racing Team gains the Top 3 in the "Junior" category with official driver Scott Kin Lindblom, running in contention for victory until the very end.
For the fourth year in a row, after the three titles won in OK (2020 and 2021) and OKJ (2022), Tony Kart Racing Team plays again a leading role in the FIA Karting World Championship reserved for the "Senior" and "Junior" single-gear categories, held at the Franciacorta Karting Track in Castrezzato (Italy). Our Tony Kart Racer 401 RR, powered by the Vortex VTJ engine, runs for the victory in the OKJ final and finishes on the third step of the podium. In the OK class (where the engine is combined with the VTS of the OTK Kart Group's "engine division") the result is undermined by the several accidents occurred in the last race of the weekend.
In OKJ, once again, Scott Kin Lindblom is our biggest representative in the category. On the strength of the victory gained on the occasion of last month's WSK Euro Series right at Franciacorta, the Swedish driver starts the weekend positively with a fourth place in Group 4 of qualifying and brilliantly continues his path with three victories in the qualifying heats. With a further success in Super Heat B on Sunday morning, Lindblom secures his fifth place on the grid for the final, out of a total of 123 entries in the event. At the start of the decisive race, our driver holds his position firmly, climbs to third place after a few laps and keeps contact with the two drivers ahead of him to finally win a well-deserved bronze medal.
Excellent debut at the FIA Karting World Championship for Davide Bottaro. The Italian driver is fifth in his group of the qualifying practice and takes the third place as his best result during the qualifying heats, also setting the fastest lap in the A-B heat. Thanks to a solid 6-place recovery during the final, Bottaro finishes the event in the top 10.
Third position in Group 4 of the qualifying heats, instead, for Scott Marsh, successively able to record two Top 5 places in the qualifying heats. Despite a retirement in the second heat, the British driver shows his full potential setting a 13-position comeback in the final. Good performance also for Maria Germano Neto during the event, with a fifth place as best result in the eliminatory heats and 9 positions gained in the decisive race of Sunday. Important growth over the weekend for Thomas Quince, able to climb an impressive 12 positions during the final. Difficult weekend, on the other hand, for Kirill Dzitiev and Alp Hasan Aksoy: due to some inconvenience, the two Tony Kart Racing Team drivers do not collect the hoped-for results.
In the OK category, Jan Przyrowski attends his first FIA Karting World Championship in the queen category of single-gear karts, after his third place obtained in OKJ last year. Without making any mistakes, the Polish driver consistently runs the top positions during the qualifying heats and closes the day on Saturday with a victory, while in Sunday's final he seizes a Top 10 finish.
An accident in the first bends of the final puts an end to Sebastiano Pavan's race. Too bad for the Italian, author of a second place as best result in the qualifying heats and two fast laps, as well as a Top 5 in Super Heat A and the resulting best lap. David Walther, Kai Rillaerts and Luigi Coluccio are also involved in the same initial battle: the Danish driver (with a third place gained in the eliminatory heats) restarts, only to stop for good after a few laps; the Belgian (twice third in the qualifying heats) and the Italian (winner of the last stage of the FIA Karting European Championship in Cremona) are forced to leave the race.
Favourable feedback for Aleksandar Bogunovic and Suleiman Zanfari: both narrowly miss out the access to the final. Zoe Florescu Potolea and Sofia Zanfari, the two girls of our sports division, show off, as do the two Brazilians Alfredo Ibiapina and Gustavo Galvão, in their second race running under our official colours.
The Tony Kart Racing Team continues its sporting commitments with the 51st Trofeo delle Industrie (October 19 – 22) at the South Garda Karting in Lonato (Italy), with the drivers of the MINI categories, and in Round 2 of the WSK Euro Series (November 2 – 5) at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno (Italy), with the KZ2, OK, OKJ and MINI classes.
