Track activity continues for Round 3 of the WSK Super Master Series at the Franciacorta Karting Track in Castrezzato (Italy). After the first day on Friday, in which the qualifications and the first preliminary heats took place, on Saturday all the remaining heats were held for the six categories present in the race: KZ2, OK, OKJ, OKN-J, MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 U10. The starting grids for Sunday's prefinals were then decided.

KZ2: three wins out of three for Tom Leuillet

Tires: Vega

  • The Franciacorta circuit seems to greatly enhance the speed skills of Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart Racing Team – OTK – Vortex): in fact, the Frenchman obtained two pole positions, a victory and a podium last year (in the context of the WSK Super Master Series and the WSK Final Cup). History seems ready to repeat itself: the representative of the Tony Kart Racing Team – OTK – Vortex is leading the category after the qualifying heats, with a total of three victories out of three races held.
  • Viktor Gustavsson (CRG Racing Team – CRG – TM Kart) is Leuillet's main opponent, but after two victories in the first two heats he finishes third in the last, thus handing over the lead to his rival. The Swede precedes Daniel Vasile (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – TM Kart) in the standings, author of a victory and currently third.
  • The reigning European KZ champion Danilo Albanese (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME) drops from second place to fourth, without managing to take a victory. On the contrary, the current championship leader Cristian Bertuca (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – TM Kart) wins a heat, however occupies fifth position.
  • Emilien Denner (Sodikart – Sodikart – TM Kart) takes sixth place, after placing 14th yesterday in qualifying. Maksim Orlov (Modena Kart – Parolin – TM Kart) is seventh, while Artem Severiukhin (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – TM Kart) recovers from 16th place to eighth. Ninth position instead for Matteo Spirgel (CPB Sport – Sodikart – TM Kart), ninth.
  • Remarkable ride by Paolo De Conto (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin – TM Kart), in his first race of the year and recently returning to racing. The former world champion goes from 22nd to tenth, ahead of Giuseppe Palomba (Sodikart – Sodikart – TM Kart), 11th.
  • Scrolling through the ranking we find Senna van Walstijn (Sodikart – Sodikart – TM Kart) 15th, David Trefilov (Maranello SRP Factory Team – Maranello – TM Kart) 17th and Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – TM Kart) 19th.
  • While fighting for the top positions in heat A-C, Markus Kajak (Maranello SRP Factory Team – Maranello – TM Kart) jumps on the curb of the last hairpin and lands on an innocent Matteo Viganò (CL Racing Team – Birel Art – TM Kart). The two are 20th and 21st respectively.
  • Behind Kajak and Viganò are Andrea Dalè (Andrea Dalè – CRG – TM Kart), 22nd, Marijn Kremers (Tony Kart Racing Team – OTK – Vortex), 23rd, Francesco Celenta (Tony Kart Racing Team – OTK – Vortex ), 24th, and Arthur Carbonnel (CRG Racing Team – CRG – TM Kart), 25th.
  • Jeremy Iglesias (CRG Racing Team – CRG – TM Kart) falls to 40th in the standings. World champion Paolo Ippolito (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME) collects two retirements and is now 49th.

OK: Sebastiano Pavan attempts redemption

Tires: LeCont

  • The weekend in Cremona, which ended with a failure to participate in the final, now seems like a distant memory for Sebastiano Pavan (Tony Kart Racing Team – OTK – Vortex). The Italian took three victories in the first three heats, after which in the last one (B-C) he "limited himself" to finishing second. With these results, the Tony Kart Racing Team driver jumps to the top of the intermediate classification.
  • Last year, on the occasion of Round 2 of the WSK Final Cup, he obtained a good third place in the second race in OK: Thibaut Ramaekers (VDK Racing – KR – IAME) intends to get back on the podium in Franciacorta. The Belgian, capable of winning a heat, is currently second, behind Pavan.
  • The outsider Roland Kuklane (Ward Racing – Tony Kart – TM Kart) continues to surprise with a solid victory in heat B-C and third place in the ranking. Among the high ranking positions we also find Dmitry Matveev (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME), fourth, and David Walther (Tony Kart Racing Team – OTK – Vortex), fifth.
  • Concrete path for Lewis Wherrell (Forza Racing – Exprit – TM Kart) during the qualifying heats, with the Briton sixth in the standings on Saturday evening. Instead, Davide Bottaro (CRG Racing Team – CRG – IAME) collected a retirement in the first heat A-B, but then made up for it with two victories. The Italian loses the leadership and slips to seventh.
  • Eighth place for Ean Eyckmans (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – TM Kart), ninth for Lewis Francis (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME), tenth for Elia Pappacena (Ward Racing – Tony Kart – TM Kart). Salim Hanna (Prema Racing – KR – IAME) remains on the fringes of the Top 10, 11th. Lorenzo Campos (AKM Motorsport – KR – IAME) is 12th.
  • A contact in heat A-D between Tiziano Monza (Tony Kart Racing Team – OTK – Vortex) and Oleksandr Bondarev (Prema Racing – KR – IAME) ruins the final score of the two. The Singaporean drops from eighth to 13th, while the Ukrainian - who previously also collected a 16th place in heat B-D - is 19th.
  • Further back we find Fionn McLaughlin (VDK Racing – KR – IAME), 20th, and Anatoly Khavalkin (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin – TM Kart), 24th.

OKJ: Christian Costoya goes on the attack

Tires: Vega

  • Still looking for his first victory of the season, Christian Costoya (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin – TM Kart) achieved the best results overall in the qualifying heats. The Spaniard wins three out of four races, as well as a fourth place and a fastest lap. The Parolin Motorsport driver is therefore at the top of the category standings at the end of Saturday.
  • Another Spaniard occupies the top of the ranking: in fact, Bosco Arias Chavarri (DPK Racing – KR – IAME) is currently second. Already fast in yesterday's qualifying, the rookie continues with excellent performances in the preliminary heats and also wins a victory in heat A-B.
  • Jack Iliffe (Forza Racing – Exprit – TM Kart) recorded a victory on his scoresheet, nevertheless he went from second to third. Two successes and two podiums for Niklas Schaufler (DPK Racing – KR – IAME), fourth and considered among the possible candidates to win tomorrow's final.
  • The positive weekend of Dean Hoogendoorn (AKM Motorsport – KR – IAME) continues, stable in fifth place. Friday's pole-sitter Lev Krutogolov (Borsch Racing – Tony Kart – IAME) scored a victory in the heats, but the results obtained did not allow him to remain in front and, in fact, he moved to sixth position.
  • Continuing with the ranking we find Roman Kamyab (Ricky Flynn Motorsport – LN – TM Kart), seventh, Henry Domain (Energy Corse – Energy Corse – TM Kart), eighth, and Filippo Sala (Ricky Flynn Motorsport – LN – TM Kart), ninth .
  • Nice recovery by Dries Van Langendonck (Forza Racing – Exprit – TM Kart), who went from 25th to tenth. Rocco Coronel (VictoryLane Karting – KR – IAME) is 11th, followed by Scott Kin Lindblom (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart – Vortex), 12th, by Iskender Zulfikari (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME), 13th, and by Sebastian Lehtimaki (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart – Vortex), 14th.
  • Iacopo Martinese (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME) shows off his performance by moving up 29 positions in the rankings, placing 17th.

OKN-J: Valerio Viapiana doesn't make mistakes

Tires: Vega

  • Valerio Viapiana (Team Driver Racing Kart – KR – IAME) seems more confident than in previous events of the season. The Italian, the fastest in yesterday's qualifying, retains the leadership thanks to a series of two victories out of two qualifying heats.
  • Viapiana must, however, look over its shoulder from Bogdan Cosma Cristofor (Forza Racing – Exprit – TM Kart), author of a victory, a fifth place and a fast lap in the heats. Positive third position for Giacomo Giusto (Modena Kart – Parolin – TM Kart), while Archie Lovatt (Forza Racing – Exprit – TM Kart) went from 11th to fourth.
  • Pietro Bagutti (Gamoto – EKS – TM Kart) also moved up the rankings, from 15th to fifth, and Arthur Hoang (VDK Racing – KR – IAME), from 19th to sixth. Gioele Carrer (Scarpi Racing – Parolin – IAME) remains stable in seventh position, unlike Andrea Manni (Forza Racing – Exprit – TM Kart) who drops from third to eighth.
  • Nikolas Karagiannis (Monster K Factory Team – Intrepid – TM Kart) enters the Top 10, climbing from 14th to ninth. Behind him we find Kais Aziza (Gamoto – Tony Kart – TM Kart), tenth, Roland Nagy (ERT Racing Team – Parolin – TM Kart), 11th, and Alex Molota (Firefly Racing Team – Gillard – TM Kart), this last to start always from the back of the heats grid.

MINI Gr.3: Daniel Miron Lorente leaves nothing to his opponents

Tires: Vega

  • Everything was perfect for Daniel Miron Lorente (Team Driver Racing Kart – KR – IAME) during the qualifying heats: two victories out of two scheduled races allow the Spaniard, who qualified 16th in yesterday's qualifying, to take command of the intermediate classification.
  • Thanks to two Top 3 results, Leonardo Gorski (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart – Vortex) emerges from 13th place in qualifying and temporarily positions himself in second. Alessandro Truchot (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME) also did well, although a tenth place in heat A-B ruined his progress to the detriment of a victory in heat B-C: he is currently third.
  • The change of team is good for Julian Frasnelli (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME), who achieved a second place as best result and fourth in the standings. William Calleja (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME) follows in fifth position.
  • Sixth place for Albert Tamm (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME), ahead of Mark Pilipenko (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME), seventh. After the lackluster performance in qualifying, Cristian Blandino (Kalì Kart Racing – TGroup – TM Kart) moved up from 24th to eighth.
  • The Top 10 is completed by Gioele Girardello (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin – TM Kart), ninth, and by Nikita Botte (Novalux – Lenzokart – LKE), tenth.
  • Two subpar performances by polesitter Antoine Venant (Kidix – KR – IAME): the Belgian finished 11th and 12th, results which relegated him to 14th place.

MINI Gr.3 U10: Mason Robertson continues in the lead

Tires: Vega

  • After yesterday's pole position, Mason Robertson (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME) continues to lead the standings. The Scotsman wins heat A-B on Friday, after which he scores two second places in races A-C and A-D on Saturday.
  • Mark Loomets (Energy Corse – Energy Corse – TM Kart) gains 7 positions in the standings and moves behind Robertson. The Estonian collected a victory, a second place and a fifth. A victory and two third places allow Achille Rea (Tony Kart Racing Team – Tony Kart – Vortex) to maintain third position.
  • Blazej Kostrzewa (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME), thanks above all to a victory in heat A-D, rises from 13th to fourth. Davide Di Filippo (Babyrace Driver Academy – Parolin – IAME) follows in the standings, fifth, and Edoardo Colucci (CMT – Parolin – IAME), sixth.
  • Jason Kosmopoulos (CRG Racing Team – TGroup – TM Kart) is among the best climbers of the day, from 28th to seventh. David Moscardi (Birel Art Racing – Birel Art – TM Kart) rises two positions, from tenth to eighth.
  • Niccolò Perico (Energy Corse – Energy Corse – TM Kart) makes up for 46th place in qualifying with the current ninth position in the general classification. Carl Nellegard (Ward Racing – Tony Kart – TM Kart) retired in the first heat (A-B), but achieved two victories in the following two. The Swede, however, drops back to tenth place.
  • Pedro Campos (Kalì Kart Racing – TGroup – TM Kart) does not take part in heats C-D and A-D: the Brazilian is currently 54th. Lucas Palacio (KR Motorsport – KR – IAME) definitively withdraws from the event due to an injury suffered before qualifying.
