WSK Super Master Series rd 4, Lonato: qualifying – Pole position for Emilien Denner (KZ2), Rafael Camara (OK), Kean Nakamura Berta (OKJ) and Christian Costoya (MINI)

After the first round of the WSK Euro Series two weeks ago, WSK Promotion remains in Lonato again this weekend for the fourth and final round of the WSK Super Master Series. Great turnout at South Garda Karting (over 300 drivers) in all four international categories: 107 in the MINI, 88 in the OKJ, 72 in the OK and 74 in the KZ2.

The usual qualifying sessions took place on Friday, before continuing with the first qualifying heats, which will end on Saturday afternoon.

KZ2: Emilien Denner surprises everyone on his second outing of the season

  • Surprise in the KZ2 class qualifying: Emilien Denner (Intrepid Driver Program - Intrepid - TM Racing), after having contested the first race of the season two weeks ago right here in Lonato for the WSK Euro Series, gets the best time. The French driver of Intreprid, who we remember having won the 2019 FIA Karting International Super Cup KZ2, records a 45.220 in group 1.

  • Francesco Celenta (Parolin Motorsport - Parolin - TM Racing) is the fastest in group 2 with a time of 45.394, slightly less than that of Alex Irlando (CRG Racing Team - CRG - TM Racing), second in the same group as his Italian compatriot .

  • Viktor Gustavsson (Leclerc by Lennox Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing), currently in third position in the championship, is second in group 1 and, consequently, occupies third place in the overall standings, followed behind him by Irlando in fourth.

  • Il leader di campionato, Juho Valtanen (KR Motorsport – KR – TM Racing), si classifica al quinto posto al termine delle qualifiche.   • The championship leader, Juho Valtanen (KR Motorsport - KR - TM Racing), ranks fifth at the end of qualifying. Sixth is Adrien Renaudin (Sodikart - Sodikart - TM Racing), while seventh is Marijn Kremers (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing), Valtanen's most direct rival and author of two victories in the last two WSK Promotion races (in WSK Super Master Series round 2 in Sarno and in WSK Euro Series round 1 in Lonato).

  • First appearance of the season for Lorenzo Camplese (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), good 11th despite a longer break from the official competition fields than his rivals. Senna van Walstijn (CPB Sport - Sodikart - TM Racing) is 12th, followed by Danilo Albanese (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) at 13th and by Giuseppe Palomba (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) at 14th.

  • Viacheslav Putiatin (Parolin Motorsport - Parolin - TM Racing), 15th, precedes the reigning world champion Jeremy Iglesias (CRG Racing Team - CRG - TM Racing), 16th. 18th Stan Pex (KR Motorsport - KR - TM Racing).

OK: championship leader Rafael Camara signs his first pole position

  • It is head to head already in qualifying between Rafael Camara (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) and Arvid Lindblad (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME). The Brazilian driver, currently at the top of the overall championship standings, signs his first pole position in the WSK Super Master Series 2021 with a time of 45.877 in group 1. The British licensed rival is slower by only one tenth of a second, first in the group 2.

  • After obtaining the best seasonal qualification in the first round of the WSK Euro Series, Luigi Coluccio (Kosmic Racing Department - Kosmic - Vortex) confirms that he is among the best interpreters of South Garda Karting. The Italian driver finishes behind Camara by just 8 thousandths of a second and is third in the general classification.

  • Competitive also Ugo Ugochukwu (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), the second best driver in group 2 and the only one able to remain under a tenth of a second behind Lindblad. The US-licensed driver, McLaren's new protégé, is fourth in the qualifying rankings.

  • Still among the best Tymoteusz Kucharczyk (Birel ART Racing - RK - TM Racing), excellent rookie in this edition of the WSK Super Master Series. The Polish driver, with fifth place in the standings, is among the best Birel ART Racing drivers.

  • In a top 10 largely dominated by KR chassis, Artem Severium (Ward Racing - Tony Kart - Vortex) is the best Tony Kart in the qualifying standings. The Russian driver is an excellent sixth, ahead of a quartet of KR led by Andrea Kimi Antonelli (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), seventh and absent for the first round of the WSK Euro Series due to his positivity at COVID-19. Behind the Italian we find: Brando Badoer (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), eighth; Nikola Tsolov (DPK Racing - KR - IAME), ninth; Ivan Domingues (DPK Racing - KR - IAME), tenth.

  • Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) is the best of the Birel ART Racing drivers, 11th. Tuukka Taponen (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), currently third in the championship, holds the position of first driver in the standings for the Tony Kart Racing Team, 15th. Joseph Turney (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex) is 21st.

OKJ: Kean Nakamura Berta is the fastest with Forza Racing

  • Kean Nakamura Berta (Forza Racing - Exprit - TM Racing) is the fourth different author of the pole position in the OKJ category out of four rounds of the WSK Super Master Series: 47,508 in group 2 for the Japanese Forza Racing driver.

  • Matheus Ferreira (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) is the fastest in group 3 but takes second place in the general classification by just three hundredths of a second behind Nakamura Berta. Competitive also Douwe Dedecker (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), first in group 1 and third at the end of all the qualifying sessions.

  • Just two hundredths of a second from Nakamura Berta relegates reigning world champion Freddie Slater (Ricky Flynn Motorsport - Kosmic - Vortex) to second place in group 2 and fourth in the combined standings. Absent in Sarno due to COVID-19 positivity, Rashid Al Dhaheri (Parolin Motorsport – Parolin – TM Racing) is ready to fight among the best again and gets fifth place. Antonio Apicella (Team Driver Racing Kart - KR - IAME) was also good, sixth.

  • Seventh position for William Macintyre (Birel ART Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing), in his second appearance with the colors of Birel ART Racing after his debut in the first round of the WSK Euro Series. Harley Keeble (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex) is eighth with Tony Kart Racing Team, while closing the top 10 are Luka Sammalisto (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) and Konstantin Krapin (Ward Racing - Tony Kart - Vortex ).

  • Rather behind the protagonists for the fight for the title. Alex Powell (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), at the top of the championship, is even 41st in the standings. Akshay Bohra (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME) takes advantage of this, second in the WSK Super Master Series, despite the fact that he does not go beyond the 19th place. Just out of the top ten Kirill Kutskov (KR Motorsport - KR - IAME), 11th, while Maksimilian Popov (Ward Racing - Tony Kart - Vortex) is 18th.

MINI: Christian Costoya is confirmed in front of everyone also in qualifying

  • To impose himself in the last qualifying of the WSK Super Master Series is Christian Costoya  (Parolin Motorsport - Parolin - TM Racing), current leader of the championship standings. The Spaniard records a time of 52.719 in group 4 and gets the best possible position for the qualifying heats.

  • Best result of the season by Kilian Josseron (Team Driver Racing Kart - KR - IAME), first in group 3 and second in the general classification. Alp Aksoy (Babyrace Driver Academy - Parolin - IAME) also signs the best position in qualifying this 2021: third in the combined standings with the fastest lap of group 2.

  • Matic Presa (Leclerc by Lennox Racing - Birel ART - TM Racing) is the last qualifying leader to mention, first in group 1 and fourth in the general classification. The Slovenian driver is the only group polemand who has a time exceeding 53 seconds.

  • Emanuele Olivieri (Formula K Serafini - IPK - TM Racing), third in the championship standings and winner of the third round in Sarno, scores an excellent sixth place, preceded by Tiziano Monza (Sauber Orlen Karting Team – KR – IAME) in fifth position. Vladimir Ivannikov (Drago Corse Racing Team - EKS - TM Racing) recorded seventh place in the overall standings, followed in order by: Griffin Peebles (Team Driver Racing Kart - KR - IAME), eighth; Aleksandar Bogunovic (CRG Racing Team - CRG - TM Racing), ninth; Matias Orjuela (Parolin Motorsport - Parolin - TM Racing), tenth.

  • Jimmy Helias (Tony Kart Racing Team - Tony Kart - Vortex), 7th in the championship, occupies a good 14th place in the general classification with the official colors of the Tony Kart Racing Team. Gerasim Skulanov (CRG Racing Team - CRG - TM Racing), another protagonist of the category, is just behind in 22nd place, behind René Lammers (Babyrace Driver Academy - Parolin - IAME) who is the closest in the championship to costoya. 20th place for Lewis Wherrell (Team Driver Racing Kart - KR - IAME), 26th is the fresh winner of round 1 of the Euro Series, Jindrich Pesl (Babyrace Driver Academy - Parolin - IAME), while Niklas Schaufler (Emme Racing - EKS - TM Racing), always at the top in the last few races.
