With over half a century of premier motorsports racing, the company’s partnerships with the world’s best drivers and teams in championships from Formula 1, Formula E, WEC and NASCAR to WRC and in events like the Dakar, provide Alpinestars’ technical staff unrivalled access to a testing program that pushes technology to the limit, both on and off the track. The new products in the line-up reflect this ethos, and all the new automotive products in the 2020 International Auto range meet the new FIA race wear standard 8856-2018, including: suits, apparel, gloves, balaclavas, underwear and shoes.

Already exhaustively tested to meet the extreme stresses that drivers face in the cockpit environment, and the rigorous safety requirements demanded by the sport’s governing body – the FIA; the Hypertech v2 race suit delivers excellent performance at an extremely low weight. Aiding driver performance and minimizing fatigue helps lap times – especially towards the end of a long, hot, race when mental and physical strain are at their peak - is the key focus of the technology developed in the Hypertech v2. Extremely light weight with its two-layer construction, the Hypertech v2 is anatomically shaped so drivers are ensured a very close, racing fit.
Also vital is the effective management of the driver’s body moisture to ensure sweat is moved away from the skin helping to regulate core temperature throughout a Grand Prix. The new Hypertech v2 race suit benefits from this approach. Featuring new fabrics and assembly engineering, the suit offers the lightest possible construction combined with the ultimate in performance and protection for racing at the highest level. Physical and mental stress affects a driver’s ability to perform behind the wheel and the Hypertech v2 is built to boost comfort in the cockpit while aiding precision and stamina.

Other key developments in the 2020 International Auto Collection include innovations in footwear. The Tech-1 Z v2 is super lightweight and has a more contoured shape complete with a sock-style construction and is thus more proportioned to better adapt to the morphology of the feet, thereby improving comfort in the cockpit and reducing driver fatigue. There is also an ergonomic foot bed to ensure the foot maintains a natural, comfortable posture while also allowing maximum flexibility, support and free foot movement.
