On February 10th, within the collaboration with the Ferrari Driver Academy renewed earlier this year, the drivers of the Maranello headquarters sporting program spent a training day at the wheel of Tony Kart/Vortex karts on the South Garda Karting track in Lonato, where our team is waiting to take part in the Winter Cup this weekend.
Seven FDA drivers under our tent, starting from Giuliano Alesi, Enzo Fittipaldi and Callum Ilott, who had already taken part in last year's campus organized by Tony Kart and FDA. Newcomers Arthur Leclerc and Dino Beganovic joined them, the latter just selected by Ferrari after his years in karting, always racing Tony Kart. Our first official driver admitted to the Ferrari program after the close partnership in 2016, Marcus Armstrong is completing the group together with Gianluca Petecof, Tony Kart Racing Team driver in 2017.
After mounting the seats, the drivers immediately got on track to take advantage of the time available. For each driver, the company located in Prevalle placed the Tony Kart Racer 401 R chassis at disposal both in KZ and OK configurations. The shifter version, especially, was used by Armstrong, Fittipaldi, Alesi and Leclerc while Ilott, Petecof and Beganovic carried out their test sessions at the wheel of the direct drive kart.
The race day was characterized not only by an intense work program, but also moments of sinergy and mutual exchange, fundamental purposes of the partnership between Tony Kart and FDA.
At the end of the day, both teams expressed great satisfaction with the work carried out and will soon be together again for a new training day at the wheel of the Tony Kart chassis.
