Following a convincing debut in FIA Karting at Genk in Belgium in May, LeCont tyres once again demonstrated the full extent of their qualities during the second and final round of the KZ and KZ2 European Championships. At the spectacular Naples International Circuit, under demanding conditions, the Italian brand confirmed its ability to deliver top-level performance whilst ensuring perfect sporting fairness.
A successful event for LeCont and a new record
The summer heat and the track’s particularly high grip levels posed a real test for the tyres. LeCont rose to the challenge throughout the weekend, however, thanks to tyres that offered remarkable consistency and a level of performance praised by both drivers and teams. This was clearly demonstrated during Sunday morning’s warm-up, when Frenchman Jean Nomblot set a new all-time record of 55.589 seconds, at an average speed of 107.8 km/h, on this circuit configuration first used in 2024. This was a significantly faster time than those recorded during the 2026 Italian Championship or the 2025 European Championship. The lap completed in 55.808 seconds by Kimi Tani during Saturday morning’s KZ2 warm-up was also very impressive.
The sporting stakes were particularly high, as two FIA Karting European Championship titles were set to be awarded at Sarno in the highly competitive KZ and KZ2 categories, known for putting tyres under severe strain. In this context, LeCont fulfilled its mission perfectly, providing all competitors with tyres offering a consistent and sustainable level of performance. The drivers were able to fully demonstrate their talent in identical conditions.
Beyond this positive outcome, LeCont also confirmed the strength of its organisation. Throughout the event, the technical teams at the circuit provided professional support to the drivers and teams, responding effectively to their requests and ensuring impeccable service and logistics.
Champions crowned in style
True to its commitment to celebrating sporting achievement, the Italian brand also presented its traditional Awards, honouring the fastest drivers in Qualifying. France’s Emilien Denner in KZ (55.844s) and Germany’s Maximilian Schleimer in KZ2 (56.307s) received this honour after securing pole position on Friday.
On Sunday, Denner confirmed his form with a brilliant victory ahead of Mattéo Spirgel (FRA) and Giuseppe Palomba (ITA). Emilien Denner took the opportunity to claim the KZ European Championship title ahead of Danilo Albanese (ITA) and Viktor Gustafsson (SWE). In KZ2, Finland’s Kimi Tani also achieved a double victory by winning the Final, ahead of Genis Civico Espona (ESP) and Matheus Morgatto (BRA), as well as the European title ahead of Morgatto and Schleimer.
Following this perfectly executed event, LeCont is now turning its attention to a new major challenge. The Rovereto-based brand will be present at the prestigious Circuit International du Mans from 17th to 20th September, for one of the most eagerly anticipated FIA Karting competitions of the season, bringing together the KZ World Championship, the KZ2 World Cup and the KZ2 Masters International Super Cup. This will be another opportunity for LeCont to demonstrate the competitiveness, consistency and reliability of its tyres on the world stage.
