With the world of karting facing a forced break, there are fortunately a lot stories to tell about those who work to help the world cope with the CoVID-19 emergency. This time, the leader by example is LeCont Tires of Walter and Sergio Cont, which temporarily retooled production to make face masks, one of the most requested and most difficult to find protective devices at the moment.
It's Paolo Bombara himself, the marketing manager of LeCont, that told us about how the company has succeeded its effort in such a short time: “With the kart races on hiatus, even our tire-production activity has come to a sudden halt. The will of Walter and Sergio, but also of all the staff, however, was first and foremost to do something that could help in this emergency. Thus, thanks to the know-how of our LeCont Technology department, we were able to create machinery to mass produce face masks ”.

More specifically, the face masks are of three different types as shown in the photos. To make them, LeCont had to rely on its mechanical technology department, not only on their know-how for with regards to materials, given the impossibility of finding machinery for the production of masks on the market. The prototyping was completed in a very short time and skeleton staff and the production now seems ready to go.
"As of now we are still in an artisan/industrial phase, but we plan to start large-scale production starting next week: we already have orders for millions of masks to be processed." concludes Paolo Bombara.
