The ACI Sport Karting Commission met on Thursday 25 July and among the various topics discussed, all the preparatory work for the new 2025 season was illustrated, through the President Raffaele Giammaria, with the analysis of some proposals that will soon be presented to the next National Sports Council and the Sports Committee for their approval.

Among the topics discussed, some aspects of the Sporting and Technical Regulations, the 2025 Titles, the Karting Referents and the 2025 Calendar, which will be made known only after the presentation of the international FIA Karting calendar in order to avoid overlapping problems and facilitate greater participation of teams and drivers in the Italian Championship.

Italian Championship 2024 with a provisional average of 223 drivers.
The usual 5 tests confirmed for the categories KZ2, OK-N, OK-N Junior, MINI Gr.3, MINI Gr.3 Under 10. The dates and locations are to be defined. At the moment the success of the 2024 edition is undeniable, after the first four tests, the average of verified drivers was 223 drivers, with these data: 224 drivers in Triscina, 214 in La Conca, 238 in Val Vibrata, 218 in Sarno.

The single race of the Italian Championship for the various classes of the KZN category has also been confirmed, while the title, to be awarded in a single race, of the Legend (100 and 125) will be confirmed only after monitoring participation in the Italian Championship race which will be held in Lonato on 20-22 September.

MINI Gr. Under 10, the technical regulation.
The first report on the test recently carried out in Franciacorta to differentiate the performance of the MINI Gr.3 Under 10 from that of the MINI Gr.3 was also presented in detail. By now the Under 10 is a category that in its second year has found its own identity within regional, national and international races, and the time has come to provide, alongside this division by age groups (8/10 and 10/12 years), also a division with a differentiated technical regulation. ACI Sport Area Cup.
The ACI Sport Area Cup will also be proposed again as a single event, but the Karting Commission is evaluating a different method of access to the race, while the division by Area of ​​2024 remains confirmed, namely:

  • Area-1 (Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, Lombardy, Liguria, Trentino AA, Veneto, Friuli VG),
  • Area-2 (Tuscany, Umbria, Marche, Abruzzo, Lazio, Emilia Romagna),
  • Area 3 (Molise, Campania, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria),
  • Area 4 (Sicily),
  • Area 5 (Sardinia).

ACI Sport Champions Cup
Also confirmed, with the same setting, is the ACI Sport Champions Cup which will see its first edition on the weekend of 01-03 November in Battipaglia (SA).

National Trophy.
The ACI Karting National Trophy has been confirmed as a single event for the MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 Under 10 categories.

Karting Referents.
For 2025 the number of Karting Referents increases from 10 to 11 because it was decided to include an additional Referent for Zone 1, which is very large, who will deal in particular with the Piedmont Region.

Number of licensed drivers, comparison 2023-2024.
Finally, President Giammaria illustrated the progress of the 2024 season, highlighting the growth in the number of licensed drivers: 2518 against 2462 in 2023. The highest number belongs to Lombardy with 503 pilots, Sicily with 312, Emilia Romagna 228, Lazio 205, Veneto 188, Campania 181, Puglia 150, Tuscany 147, Piedmont 126, Marche 113, and then the other regions.
