The winners of the second round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship

The victories went to Genis Civico in KZ2, Daniele Vezzelli in OK-N, Albert Tamm in OK-NJ, Achille Rea in MINI Gr.3 and Josh Bergman in MINI Gr. U10

The second round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship at the Leopard Circuit Viterbo truly delivered a spectacle, culminating in an intense and thrilling third day with many protagonists stepping into the limelight, bringing interesting dynamism to the championship standings and also some significant surprises.

In Viterbo, 248 drivers out of the 260 registered, representing 42 nations, took to the track, a larger entry list compared to the first round in Ugento, which showcased excellent competitiveness in all categories, from the smallest MINIs to the highest-performing OK-NJ, OK-N, and KZ2. The morning's Prefinals provided important indications after the previous day's heats, but it was the finals that completed the weekend's spectacular action.

The winners of the Viterbo round were: Genis Civico (ESP) (#440 CL Racing Team/Birelart-TM Kart-Vega) in KZ2, Daniele Vezzelli (ITA) (#388 CM Motorsport/CRG-Iame-MG) in OK-N, Albert Tamm (CHE) (#270 Modena Kart/Parolin-TM Kart-MG) in OK-NJ, Achille Rea (ITA) (#115 Birelart Racing/Birelart-TM Kart-MG) in MINI Gr.3, Josh Bergman (USA) (#4 Kidix/KR-Iame-MG) in MINI Gr. U10.

KZ2 – Civico dominates the final.
Several drivers were contenders for victory in KZ2, but in the end, the Spaniard Genis Civico (CL Racing Team/Birelart-TM Kart-Vega) prevailed, dominating the final ahead of the Finn Kimi Tani (LA Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart) and Riccardo Longhi (Birelart Racing/Birelart-TM Kart), who had won Prefinal-A. Also among the victory contenders was the Belgian Elie Goldstein (TB Kart Racing Team/TB Kart-TM Kart), winner of Prefinal-B and championship leader after his victory in the first round in Ugento. Goldstein had to settle for fourth place in the final, finishing close behind Riccardo Longhi. Fifth place went to Angelo Lombardo (Lombardo/Maranello-TM Kart), the first of the KZ2 Masters. Victory in KZ2 Under 18 went to Kimi Tani. The KZ2 Master podium, after Angelo Lombardo, was completed by Mirko Mizzoni (Italcorse Racing Team/Italcorse-TM Kart) and Antonio Piccioni (TK Kart Factory/TK-TM Kart). The KZ2 Under 18 podium saw Leonardo Placido Bonomo (VRT Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart) and Lithuanian Jurse Kipras (Gold Kart/Righetti Ridolfi-TM Kart) take the other two steps behind Kimi Tani. Goldstein still leads the championship.

OK-N – First victory for Vezzelli.
Viterbo celebrates the first victory of Daniele Vezzelli (CM Motorsport/CRG-Iame-MG) in the Italian Championship at the end of a very intense and hard-fought weekend. The battle for success saw him engaged with a formidable rival like Manuel Scognamiglio (Tellone Motorsport/Tony Kart-Iame), who had to concede in the final after winning the heats and Prefinal-A right in front of Vezzelli. Scognamiglio finished the final in second position but then received a penalty and dropped to seventh place. Second place was inherited by Lamberto Ferrari (FK Motorsport/IPK-TM Kart), and third by the Pole Juliusz Ociepa (Novalux/Lenzokart-LKE), who had won Prefinal-B. Also among the best were Federico Nardozzi (DR Racing Team/DR-Modena Engines) in fourth place, ahead of Giuseppe Piccolo (GPM Racing Kart/KR-Iame) and the 2024 champion Federico Rissi (PRK/Tony Kart-TM Kart). Andrea Giudice (Marra61/Tony Kart-Vortex) takes the championship lead, thanks to the points earned in Ugento and the points from second place in Prefinal-B in Viterbo.

OK-NJ – Tamm wins a great battle.
There was great excitement in the OK-N Junior, which had a record participation of 62 drivers. The winner of a spectacular Final was the Swiss driver Albert Tamm (Modena Kart/Parolin-TM Kart), who managed to prevail over the very fast Ukrainian driver Vsevolod Osadcyi-Suslovskyi (Monster K Factory/Monster K-TM Kart), who had stood out in the heats and in Prefinal-A ahead of Tamm himself. The Swiss driver managed to take the lead mid-race and cross the finish line ahead of the Ukrainian and the American Nicola Stanley (MP Academy Gamoto/Henza Kart/TM Kart), another excellent protagonist who finished after a comeback. Also excellent was the performance of the other Modena Kart driver, the Lithuanian Nojus Stasionis, fourth after a recovery, and the Canadian Rocco Simone (Kidix/KR-Modena Engines). Oleksandr Legenkyi (Team Driver/KR-Iame) remains at the top of the championship standings.

MINI Gr.3 – Rea shines in a hard-fought final.
In the end, Achille Rea (Birelart Racing/Birelart-TM Kart-MG) emerged victorious in MINI Gr.3, crossing the finish line at the end of a very hard-fought race ahead of Antonio Ianni (Tony Kart Racing Team/Tony Kart-Vortex) and the Swede Elton Hedfors (Parolin Motorsport/Parolin-TM Kart), the latter being the winner of Prefinal-A. Just off the podium, the Scot Mason Robertson (BabyRace/Parolin-Iame) finished fourth and Niccolò Perico (Team Driver/KR-Iame), who had won Prefinal-B, finished fifth. The Georgian Leon Chelidze (CRG Racing Team/T-Group-TM Kart) placed sixth. Rea jumps to the top of the championship standings.

MINI U10 – Bergman takes the victory.
As is customary, the shifting of protagonists provided great suspense in Viterbo in the MINI U10. The very young American driver Josh Bergman (Kidix/KR-Iame-MG) won the Final in a highly spectacular concluding phase. In the final laps, Bergman prevailed over the Ukrainian Platon Kovtunenko (Borsch Racing/KR-Iame), who had won in Ugento, while the other American, Colton Schniegenberg (Ward Racing/Tony Kart-TM Kart), finished third after a comeback of seven positions. The Norwegian Theo Steindal (Monster K Factory/Monster K-TM Kart) finished fourth, the Italian Danirel Pasquali (CRG Racing Team/T-Group-TM Kart) fifth ahead of his teammate, Cypriot Andreas Papageorgiou, and the winner of the Prefinal, the Pole David Aagten (Team Driver/KR-Iame). Kovtunenko remains at the top of the championship standings.
