On the occasion of the fourth round of the championship in Denmark, the Tony Kart Racer 401 T gains the second place in the OK category final with our official driver Thomas Pradier.
More than a month and a half after the third round of the FIA Karting European Championship OK-OKJ, the Tony Kart Racing Team is back on track in the “Senior” and “Junior” categories for the fourth round of the Champions of the Future Euro Series. At the Rødby Karting Ring in Denmark, our Tony Kart Racer 401 T gets on the OK podium, together with the VTS engine from Vortex Engines, and also shows to have an excellent potential in OKJ, paired with the VTJ engine from the OTK Kart Group's “engine division”.
In OK class, Thomas Pradier and Jindřich Pešl are among the main leaders of the category throughout the weekend. With more than eighty entrants at the Danish event, the two drivers confirm themselves to be among the fastest drivers in the qualifyings already, with the French driver placing fourth in group 2 and the Czech second in group 1. Our drivers then lead the qualifying heats: Pradier gains three wins, a second place, a third place, and a fastest lap, putting him at the top of the intermediate standings, while Pešl follows in fourth place, after collecting one win and four second places. Despite a series of contacts in the two super heats on Saturday morning, our drivers secure the second and third rows on the starting grid for the final.
At the start of the most important race of the weekend, despite having to manage a difficult start, Pradier remains firmly in the top positions; Pešl, on the other hand, takes advantage of the outside trajectory to gain the third place. Pradier then records a series of fast laps that allows him to move up to second place and fight for the lead. The French driver obtains the runner-up spot, finishing ahead of Pešl, who was fighting for the top-5.
An accident at the start, however, stops Oliver Rasmussen's final prematurely, after a solid performance in the qualifying heats. Last but not least, Markas Šilkūnas and Vanesa Šilkūnaitė make their first appearance with our Racing Team.
In OKJ class, Ilie Tristan Crisan leads our team of drivers in a category with over ninety drivers at the start. The Canadian is the second fastest in qualifying group 2, continuing his run in the qualifying heats with three wins, a second place, a third place, and a fastest lap, and winning the super heat B on Saturday morning. In the final, Crisan starts from second place and, after a difficult start that forces him to lose a few positions in the first corners, he finishes the race just outside the top five. With only one round remaining, our driver currently gains the second place in the championship.
In his first full season in the Junior category, Oliveri Sini steadily improves his performance over the weekend: he achieves three top-3 finishes in the qualifying heats and finishes second in super heat B, behind his teammate Cristan. After a brilliant start that sees him move into second place, the Indonesian driver finishes the final in the top ten. Rookie Julian Frasnelli also stands out, with a third place and a fast lap in the qualifying heats, as well as a near top-10 finish in the final.
In his first race with our colours, Gilles Philippe Herman makes a positive impression with the third-best time in Group 2 of the qualifying, a fifth place in Super Heat B, and attendance in the final. Antonio Reginaldo Pizzonia Neto also makes a good debut, with a fifth place and two fastest laps in the heats. Mateo Rivals sets the absolute record for the event in super heat A, which will only be beaten later in the final, while Henri-Constant Kumpen sets a best lap in the qualifying heats.
